The program is designed to introduce students to the challenges of veterinary practice in both community and shelter environments and give experience in spay and neuter techniques plus preventative medicine of canines and felines. This position works closely with clinicians and students providing necessary care to adoptable pets. This is a fast-paced area with a strong teaching component. Technicians provide support by assisting veterinarians with exams, treatments, anesthesia, and surgery, as well as providing insight, instruction, and demonstration to veterinary students.Example of Veterinary Technician Duties and Responsibilities include but not limited to:•Provide veterinary technician support for VCOP•Perform general nursing care such as venipuncture, catheter placement, patient restraint, treatments, medication administration, and sample collection•Document in electronic medical records•Perform anesthetic nursing skills such as, but not limited to, intubation, advanced anesthesia monitoring, local and regional blocks•Accurately perform drug and fluid calculations•Ensure that patients are prepped for surgery in accordance with hospital standard in a timely fashion to keep the service flowing•Assemble surgical supplies and equipment needed for surgical procedures •Maintain accurate anesthesia records•Monitor and maintain aseptic techniquesThe service receives Monday - Friday. May require working earlier than 8:00am or later than 5:00pmThis is a full-time, benefited position and is considered essential personnel. A post-offer education verification, background check, and health assessment are required.Expected Salary:Non-credentialed Technician - $18-22, Credentialed Technician - $20-25Minimum Requirements:Veterinary Technician I: High school diploma or equivalent and one year of relevant experience.Veterinary Technician II: Credentialed veterinary technicianPreferred Qualifications:•Graduate from an accredited American Veterinary Medical Association program for veterinary technology OR•Credentialed veterinary technicianSpecial Instructions to Applicants:In order to be considered, you must upload your cover letter and resume.This requisition has been reposted.
