  • Drives the culture and delivery of quality care to ensure every pet receives consistent care aligning with our domains of quality (staff, effective, patient/client-centered, timely, efficient, and equitable care).
  • Deliver exceptional veterinary care that aligns with our commitment to quality, compassion, and professionalism. Ensure every pet receives the highest level of care in a nurturing and supportive environment
  • Live and exemplify the guiding principles of Nemacolin Resort Inc. within self and team.
  • Manage and mentor the veterinary team, including veterinarians, the Director of Nurses, and the Office Manager, ensuring effective collaboration and high performance.
  • Oversee day-to-day operations to ensure compliance with regulatory standards, including controlled substance management and radiation safety, optimize efficiency, and drive revenue,
  • Establish trust and gain the confidence and compliance of clients through effective preventive care, thorough diagnostic workups, comprehensive treatment plans, clear home care instructions, and well-planned follow-up visits.
  • Advocate for preventive care and adoption of wellness plans to enhance the long-term health and well-being of pets.
  • Assimilate information gathered through effective history taking, physical examination, and diagnostic workup to arrive at appropriate and effective clinical decisions.
  • Practice evidence-based medicine and preventive care when data or guidelines exist, using sound judgment when they do not.
  • Perform all basic surgeries with appropriate anesthesia, monitoring, and pain management to ensure the best outcomes for patients.
  • Educate clients and hospital associates to improve their level of knowledge about veterinary care and husbandry.
  • Perform regular hospital inspections and quality audits to ensure compliance with industry, regulatory, and Nemacolin quality standards while fostering veterinary technician and staff engagement.
  • Develop associates and coach new hires to deliver an exceptional onboarding and mentorship experience.
  • Ensure all clinical work is conducted on-site, with the exception of providing care for the owner's dogs, who reside on the resort grounds.
  • Deliver veterinary quality KPIs to support the hospital, market, and practice revenue goals.
  • Lead the veterinary hospital team through the daily schedule and caseload, delegating tasks to paraprofessionals to improve hospital efficiency.
  • Address and resolve client concerns arising from the medical care of a pet.
  • Actively participate in local, state, and national veterinary organizations to cultivate relationships within the veterinary profession and promote the Woodlands Animal Care Center's brand reputation.
  • Respond to emergencies as needed, ensuring that all pets receive timely and appropriate care.
  • Maintain hospital operations to meet local, state, and federal regulatory requirements, including controlled substance management and radiation safety.
  • Charge for services rendered and products/prescriptions dispensed.
  • Constantly strive to enhance medical quality, hospital efficiency, and profitability.
  • Foster a collaborative and supportive team culture by mentoring staff, providing ongoing training, and encouraging professional development
  • Mentor veterinary student externs and foster the professional growth of all team members.

Knowledge, skills, and abilities required:
  • Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM)
  • Licenses: State Veterinary Board and DEA registration required prior to start date.
  • Ten (10) plus years of related veterinary experience.
  • Ability to complete skill testing with near-perfect scores.
  • Demonstrate exceptional leadership skills and a deep commitment to providing the highest quality veterinary care.
  • Knowledge of and ability to operate Microsoft Office Programs - Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.
  • Ability to perform basic mathematical functions.
  • Independently initiates, follows-up on, and completes assignments as well as special projects.
  • Ability to perform effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Ability to effectively perform multiple tasks.
  • Ability to interface professionally with business contacts and customers.
