Veterinary Technician – Emergency Coordinator
We are looking to add to our growing hospital and are in search of a Veterinary Nurse (Vet Tech) with at least three years of experience in veterinary medicine to work as our Emergency Coordinator. Experience with emergency medicine needed. Current CVT/LVT/RVT preferred or educational equivalent.
The schedule we are hiring for are:
Thursday-Saturday 6am-6pm
Requirements
Your skills & experience and how you'll utilize them to help our patients :
- Experience in emergency veterinary medicine (at least 3 years)
- Broad knowledge of basic small animal medicine (pharmacology, proper restraint/handling, venipuncture, laboratory testing)
- Thorough understanding and knowledge of medical terminology, medications, and disease processes
- Responsible for maintaining the flow of tasks and manage the treatment room needs
- Assignment of nurses to patients, shift roles, and other tasks as they present
- Attend, update and pass on patient rounds
- Perform various treatments on an in-house and outpatient basis
- Position and capture of radiographs
- Investigate and deescalate conflict among team members and clients in the absence of management
- Ensure protocols and policies are followed by team members
- Receive call outs/lateness phone calls informing the appropriate manager of occurrences, and determine the need for on-call team member usage
- Attention to detail and a calm demeanor
- Ability to work in a fast paced, environment
- Proficient computer skills
- Communicate with clients, and team members (verbally and written)
- Fear Free handling: safe, stress free interactions for team members, clients, and patients
