Sunset Animal Hospital, part of the Suveto network of hospitals, is looking for an experienced full-time Veterinary Technician to join our Team! Communication, honesty and respect are the cornerstone of supporting the human-pet bond.Our Veterinary Technicians are responsible for performing basic medical, diagnostic, and laboratory procedures under the direction of a licensed veterinarian.This is a full-time position for the overnight shift. Weekends are required.ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
  • Prepare exam rooms and assist in appointments with doctors.
  • Take history from client. Perform physical assessments and record observations legibly in medical record.
  • Educate clients on preventative healthcare recommendations and provide follow up.
  • Communicate any patient or client concerns to appropriate personnel.
  • Perform venipuncture to collect blood samples, perform in house laboratory tests, and prepare all forms to be sent to outside labs, call owner with results as requested by veterinarian.
  • Provide and monitor all nursing care as requested by veterinarian for patients admitted to hospital, including medications (all routes) and monitoring.
  • Admit and discharge patients to hospital by following all admission and discharge protocols. Educate clients on admit/discharge.
  • Clean and restock exam rooms, treatment areas, hospital wards and other areas as requested.
  • Dispense veterinarian approved medication, patient food, printing treatment sheets, discharge instructions, cage card labels, x ray and lab labels, recording communication with client and doctors, and others as directed by veterinarian.
  • Perform diagnostic imaging as requested by veterinarian.
REQUIREMENTS:
  • High School Diploma (or equivalent).
  • At least 3 years of clinical veterinary hospital experience required, ideally some veterinary technician education.
  • Excellent listening and communication skills.
  • Strong work ethic and positive attitude.
  • Must be flexible and able to adapt to new situations.
  • Ability to multitask.
  • Ability to act as a team player.
  • Basic veterinary medical terminology required.
  • Must have proficient knowledge of veterinarian practice software
  • Must have clear understanding and enforcement of OSHA regulations and hospital safety standards.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.
