Arkansas Tech University-Ozark Campus is the regional provider for technical and career education, offering more than 25 programs with a variety of industry specific options, as well as certificates of proficiency, technical certificates, associate degrees and general education coursework. The Ozark Campus is located on I-40 between Fort Smith and Russellville, Arkansas, in the city of Ozark. The campus, which is more than 26 acres and includes a half-mile exercise path and disc golf course, is located along Arkansas Highway 23 North in Ozark, Arkansas. The city of Ozark, with a population of approximately 3,500, is located on the banks of the Arkansas River and surrounded to the north by the Ozark National Forest and to the south by the Ouachita National Forest. Located to the west of Ozark is the city of Fort Smith, a commercial and industrial center for western Arkansas. Russellville, home to Arkansas Tech University's main campus and an area of vigorous industrial development, is located to the southeast of Ozark on Interstate 40.

Position Summary:

The Vice Chancellor of Academic Affairs and Workforce Advancement holds a pivotal senior leadership position, reporting directly to the Chancellor. Tasked with overseeing and enhancing academic programs, curriculum development, and workforce initiatives, this role is instrumental in ensuring academic excellence and promoting workforce advancement in the region and state. With direct supervision and leadership of faculty and staff, strategic planning, and a focus on professional development, the Vice Chancellor of Academic Affairs and Workforce Advancement ensures alignment between educational offerings and the evolving demands of the workforce. This role works closely with the ATU Ozark administrative leadership and also assumes direct supervision of the Arkansas Tech Career Center (ATCC) Director and provides leadership in the Career Coaching program, reinforcing the institution's commitment to fostering career-ready graduates.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Develop and implement strategic initiatives and best practices to promote excellence and relevance in teaching, learning, assessment, and workforce initiatives with a focus on aligning programming to high standards and workforce needs. Collaborate with faculty and stakeholders on a consistent basis, ensuring effective open communication Direct the operations and administration of academic departments and programs, adhering to standards and established policies and laws Oversee and provide leadership for the assessment and evaluation of academic programs to ensure successful outcomes Provide leadership, direction, and professional development to faculty and staff Attract and retain talented faculty members to support the vision and mission of the University Supervise budget preparation for the academic programs, allocating and reallocating funds and resources Serve as a member of the senior leadership team, advising and/or assisting the Chancellor on key issues and initiatives Coordinate and supervise the preparation of the schedule of classes and the assignment of qualified faculty for all academic offerings Provide supervision and leadership to the Director of the Arkansas Tech Career Center Provide Leadership, as directed by the Chancellor, for the ATU Career Coaching Program Collaborate with campus and systems-level leadership, and foster relationships and agreements with K-12, workforce, and other community partners Provide leadership and direction for accreditation self-studies and on-site visits, and maintain accreditation and review of programs with external agencies Write and manage grants as needed, securing resources for academic and workforce advancement Identify and navigate challenges, analyze root causes, and develop innovation solutions to improve academic programs and workforce initiatives Collaborate with Student Services to ensure optimal student recruitment, enrollment, advising, retention and completion, and provide leadership to ensure that faculty collaborate in the same way Collaborate with all campus departments to advance the vision and mission of the Campus and greater University Serve on local and statewide committees associated with job functions, and represent the College as needed Develop requests for new academic programs and services aligned with job-market trends and workforce needs Perform other duties as assigned or needed to advance the vision and mission of the Campus and greater University.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Demonstrated executive leadership and management skills Working knowledge of academic processes Exceptional written and verbal communication skills Grant writing and management experience Understanding and leading accreditation processes and systems analyses Proven track record of budgeting experience Ability to work in cross-functional teams and foster collaborative teamwork Understanding of academic processes and promotion of excellence in teaching, learning, and curriculum development Experience with assessment and outcomes-based education Awareness of local, state, and national labor market trends to align academic programs with workforce demands Ability to think and plan strategically and contribute to the University's strategic plan Demonstrated success as a creative leader, securing internal and external support of academic programs and workforce development Possess and employ strong networking skills with an ability to build partnerships with industry, government agencies, community organizations, and other educational institutions Ability to analyze and interpret data related to student outcomes, program effectiveness, and workforce needs Capacity to make informed decisions under pressure, considering multiple perspectives and data-driven insights Ability to plan, execute, and oversee complex projects with multiple stakeholders and timelines Capacity to identify and navigate challenges, analyze root causes, and develop innovation solutions to improve academic programs and workforce initiatives Commitment to continuous learning, professional development, and systemic improvement Ability to empathize with the needs and concerns of students, faculty, staff, and community members, and respond with professionalism Ability to effectively respond to and resolve conflict, mediate disputes, and foster constructive dialogue Skilled in building effective teams, delegating tasks, and empowering others to achieve goals and objectives

Minimum Education, Certification, or Experience Requirements:

A Master's Degree in educational leadership, career education, adult education, or secondary or higher education At least 4 years of teaching experience At least 3 years of successful leadership in upper administration/management Additional requirements determined by the agency for recruiting purposes require review and approval by the Office of Personnel Management. OTHER JOB-RELATED EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE MAY BE SUBSTITUTED FOR ALL OR PART OF THESE BASIC REQUIREMENTS, EXCEPT FOR CERTIFICATION OR LICENSURE REQUIREMENTS, UPON APPROVAL OF THE QUALIFICATIONS REVIEW COMMITTEE.

Preferred Qualifications:

Doctorate degree from a regionally accredited College or University A minimum of 5 years of upper-level management/administration Experience with grant writing and/or management Experience with accrediting bodies for academic programs Experience in Industry or in Workforce/Career Education

Work Locations, Environment, and Physical Demands:

This is a face-to-face position serving on the ATU Ozark Campus. Working nights, evenings, and weekends may be required. The ability to lift up to 25 pounds.
