The Vice President, Caribbean and Latin America IT Leader is a strategic and operational leader who drives the region's IT initiatives, fosters stakeholder engagement, and ensures the delivery of high-quality IT services and solutions. This role is responsible for leading the IT strategy and operations for the CALA region, ensuring alignment with global business and technology goals. It involves collaborating with regional business leaders and stakeholders to support technology needs, manage projects, and provide innovative solutions. This includes facilitating the IT responsibilities for new builds, conversions, and deflagging activities.
The Vice President leads the region's IT team, overseeing IT service delivery, compliance, and cybersecurity, while also focusing on team performance and development. Additionally, they conduct needs assessments, provide technology solutions to operational challenges, and ensure compliance with standards, budget, and capital requirements.
CANDIDATE PROFILE
Education and Experience
Required
- Undergraduate degree in technology or business or equivalent work experience and certifications. Advanced degree preferred but not required.
- 12+ years' progressive IT leadership experience that include business process reengineering and/or strategic planning, driving and managing change and a proven track record in managing in a large, complex organization with diverse/executive stakeholders.
- Direct management of cross-functional, sourced, and matrixed teams, and complex budgets in excess of $5M in direct and indirect costs
Preferred
- Exceptional project/program management competence and skills, including contract management, combined with strong analytical skills for planning, estimating, budgeting, and monitoring program/project work.
- Ability to accomplish results through others, particularly by establishing relationships, effective controls, and highly effective teams.
CORE WORK ACTIVITIES
Regional IT Planning and Development
- Create the long-term strategy for CALA IT in alignment with global business and technology goals and regional needs. Collaborate with direct reports and peers to implement strategies and goals, make necessary decisions, and communicate results, achievements, and challenges to all stakeholders.
- Actively participates in the Planning Process for formulation of the tactical plan supporting the technology needs of the Area. Assist the Regional Team with the Information Technology requirements and cost estimates for renovations and IT related CAPEX requirements.
- Support area development opportunities by attending feasibility reviews, developing IT budgets. Signs off on managed property pro forma documents within area of responsibility.
Stakeholder Engagement and Communication
- Serve as the main IT contact for regional business leaders, including the Area Vice President and their team discipline leaders. Understand their needs, align IT strategies to support business objectives, regularly consult with stakeholders such as AVPs and GMs, gather feedback on service effectiveness, and use formal surveys to refine technology service delivery. Act as the senior escalation point for unresolved issues.
- Represent IT on the Casino Oversight Committee to ensure casino technology operates efficiently, stays current with the latest advancements, and is safeguarded against cybersecurity threats. Collaborate with casino management and regulatory bodies to ensure compliance with company, industry, and governmental requirements.
Ongoing IT Service Delivery
- Oversee the delivery of IT services in CALA to meet quality standards by leading in-market IT teams, providing strategic leadership for operational processes, implementing continuous improvement, and establishing on-boarding and training standards for technology associates and IT products.
- Conduct needs assessments, provide technology solutions to operational challenges, and ensure compliance with standards, budget, and capital requirements. Maintain a working understanding of industry technology changes and Marriott offerings.
- Offer expert advice on IT solutions and innovations to drive business growth and efficiency in the region. Identify revenue opportunities and cost savings, translate technical jargon into business terminology, advocate for proof of concepts (POCs), and ensure CALA-specific business requirements are conveyed to the Global Technology teams.
- Lead the negotiation of contracts for software, hardware, or support services at the continent level. Ensure solutions are consistent with client needs and Marriott's IT environment.
Project Execution
- Establishes frameworks for delivering market or regional-level projects and program rollouts, ensuring they are completed on time and within budget by allocating resources and identifying and mitigating risks. Monitors high-level project views and serves as an escalation point for vendor issues.

People Management
- Manage team performance and development by setting goals, conducting appraisals, identifying growth opportunities, and fostering engagement through fair treatment, feedback, an‘open door policy,' and customer satisfaction

The salary range for this position is $219,700 to $266,600 annually.
