Vice President, Construction
Job Summary
We are seeking an exceptional leader to develop and manage our construction teams, reporting to the EVP of Development & Construction. This role is ideal for a highly motivated candidate with extensive industrial property construction experience and superior management skills.
Location: #LI-Hybrid / Los Angeles, CA or Costa Mesa, CA.
Work Arrangement: Hybrid work model, combining remote and in-office work as well as regular construction site visits (~at least 1 day per week to different sites, as necessary).
About the Role:
- Manage a minimum of two construction teams (8-10 staff typically in each team) focused on specific submarkets.
- Direct reports include Directors of Construction, Team Leads, and Senior Construction Managers. Estimated number of direct reports will be 4-6 staff.
- Provide vision and leadership to execute REXR's strategic plan and grow the construction team.
- Collaborate with heads of Development, Design, Estimating/Pre-Construction, and Property Management CAPEX.
- Oversee construction-related matters for the managed submarkets.
- Ensure compliance with project objectives, including budget, performance, timeframe, environmental considerations, quality, scoping / strategy meetings and capital approvals.
- Coordinate construction management initiatives and work with various departments to ensure best practices.
- Oversee contracts and key relationships to develop an industry-leading construction capability.
- Manage financial control and reporting on construction projects.
- Approve architectural/engineering construction drawings concerning budget, scope, and schedule.
- Ensure efficient systems to track expenditures, review change orders, and re-forecast project schedules and budgets in real-time.
- Assist leasing and property management teams with tenant improvement and related construction strategy.

Qualifications:
- Minimum 15+ years of construction project management or related operations and leadership experience, preferably in the industrial property sector.
- Bachelor's or higher degree.
- Ability to work effectively as a leader and player-coach within a large team.
- Experience with industrial building and office interior construction.
- Experience with environmental or sustainability issues.
- Self-motivated, entrepreneurial spirit.
- Exceptional interpersonal, leadership, and communication skills.
- Excellent analytical, technical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
- Proficient in MS Word, Excel, Project, Outlook, and project management software.
- Ability to provide clear, concise direction and rapid responses.
Compensation
Rexford Industrial's total reward plan includes a premier benefits package, bonus eligibility and long-term stock incentives. The expected salary range for this role is $225,000 to $300,000, with a 40% discretionary annual bonus target and stock grant eligibility. The actual base salary and total compensation offered depend on a variety of factors, which include, without limitation, the qualifications of the individual applicant for the position, years of relevant experience, specific and unique skills, level of education attained, certifications or other professional licenses held, and the location where the job will be performed. The final base salary and total compensation will be described in any offer letter.
