We are currently seeking a full-time Vice President, Development / Fundraising. The Vice President will report to the President, and will serve as a key member of the Brethren Village management team. The Vice President will work collaboratively with other leaders to establish and achieve the organization's strategic objectives and fundraising targets.The Vice President, Development will provide effective leadership, strategic direction, and management for Brethren Village's Development office, staff, and all fundraising-related functions. The Vice President will also oversee the volunteer program and our small, on-campus shops, and provide supervision for the Director, Volunteer and Retail Services. The Vice President will establish strategic plans and goals with respect to annual giving, major gifts, planned giving / bequests, grants, corporate and foundation sponsorships, capital campaigns, and volunteer programs.The Vice President will serve as the primary hands-on fundraiser for Brethren Village. The Vice President will build positive and productive relationships, through regular outreach, with Board Members, Residents, business partners, and other donors and prospects.The Vice President, Development will be charged with:
  • achieving fundraising targets to support the organization's strategic objectives
  • leading and managing the current capital campaign
  • cultivating and sustaining strong relationships with donors and prospective donors
  • identifying potential new donors
  • promoting and managing fundraising events and programs that are likely to generate donor support
  • identifying and applying for grant funding, and corporate or foundation support, to help fund the organization's initiatives
  • providing strong leadership, mentoring, and effective supervision to a small, talented Development and Volunteer Services team
  • working closely and collaboratively with the management team to implement strategies and oversee operations
Frequent local travel will be required; the Vice President must maintain a valid PA driver's license, personal auto insurance, and a driving record free from excessive and major violation. The Vice President, Development will exhibit the highest level of integrity when carrying out job duties, and in all interactions with Board Members, Residents, Team Members, donors, prospects, and business partners.Note: This vacancy may be filled at the Executive Director level, depending on the experience of the successful candidate.Work Schedule
  • Full-time, benefits-eligible: 40 hours per week with occasional additional hours as needed to fulfill responsibilities; occasional evening hours may be required to manage fundraising events (on-site)
Requirements
  • A Bachelor's degree, preferably in marketing, communications, public relations, business administration, finance, or a related field.
  • At least 8 years of progressively responsible experience in fundraising, including annual giving, planned giving, major gifts, and campaign experience.
  • Program or department management experience; experience building and managing a budget.
  • Proven track-record of achieving fundraising targets.
  • Demonstrated ability to think strategically; build support for strategic plans; develop and implement action plans.
  • Prior supervisory experience; skilled at leading, managing, coordinating, developing, and motivating staff and/or volunteers.
  • Exceptional relationship-building capabilities; ability and willingness to reach-out to potential donors and create strong professional relationships.
  • Excellent presentation and communications skills.
  • Proven ability to effectively and efficiently coordinate large events, fundraising campaigns, and projects.
  • Thorough knowledge of regulations related to fundraising; associated tax issues and IRS regulations; best practices in philanthropy.
  • Ability to efficiently use computer programs, applications, databases, and generate useful reports.
  • A valid PA driver's license, personal auto insurance, and an acceptable driving record without excessive or major violation.
  • Willingness and ability to carry out responsibilities with the highest degree of integrity, and to represent Brethren Village in a positive and professional manner.
