We build and encourage collaboration between councils and GSUSA to leverage the Movement's existing and potential investors to further the transformational leadership experiences of more than 1.7 million girls and 750,000 adults.

POSITION SUMMARY

The Vice President, Development Management & Operations works with the Development team to provide operational support by driving all processes internally and cross-functionally and for translating the needs of GSUSA into business solutions to maximize benefits across the organization. The VP, Development Management & Operations will provide best practice approaches and provide structure to outcomes and required deliverables (for standardization and scalability where possible), oversee the execution of GSUSA strategy to retain and secure the renewals of all new and acquired corporate, foundation, individual, and government partnerships, with accountability for overall partnership satisfaction under the team's management.

The VP, Development Management & Operations will be accountable to GSUSA and to the funders and will need to collaborate and have shared accountability with development leadership to increase funding.

The VP, Development Management & Operations is responsible for building and overseeing a high-performance team to support the work of Development. This work includes compliance with grant specifications to create engaging partnerships, reporting and tracking metrics and budgets, utilization of funds, and renewal and expansion of sponsorships through collaboration with project leaders.

The VP, Development Management & Operations will execute and approve partnership budgets including staffing/freelance support, sponsorship marketing and recognition, product development, sub-awarded funds to Girl Scout Councils, and research. Provide senior level support for the alliance, ensuring fair and rapid conflict resolution, facilitate executive support and communication and conduct results and operations review.

The VP, Development Management & Operations will drive strategic leadership and operational excellence in overseeing the team who manages the centralized fundraising functions, including operations, finances and budgets, gift processing and acknowledgements, administrative services, data systems, and prospect research for Girl Scouts of the USA to ensure financial strength and operational efficiency in order to manage and grow the business. The position will demand a high degree of collaboration/partnership with members of different teams.

In partnership with CDO, the VP, Development Management & Operations oversees the management of all financial reporting including annual budget preparation and development for all fundraising channels, the accuracy of revenue and expense reports, as well as adherence to annual budgets. Manages the Director of Operations who is the fundraising liaison with the Finance department and auditors, any other financial entities working with the fundraising staff and Boards and who oversees execution of communications and marketing to donors, working closely with colleagues in Fund Development, External Affairs and across GSUSA and the Movement.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the development management team through the direction, management and administering all functions related to all corporate, foundation, individual and government sponsorship activation, programming, product development and grant/sponsorship management, renewals and expansion as necessary. This work will include but not be limited to:
  • Understanding of business functions including, but not limited to launching Strategic Initiatives, Revenue Lines, Human Resources, Finance and Marketing.
  • Skilled at working across teams to align goals.
  • Establish policies that promote company culture and vision.
  • Design and implement plans related to operational efficiency.
  • Establish best practices for stewardship of funders, project management procedures, accurate budget practices, and appropriate metrics/ROI to increase probability of success, renewal and programmatic impact as well as setting a high bar for top quality, service and process.
  • Negotiate and approve program and partnership renewals and expansions, and necessary contracts in collaboration with other GSUSA Communities, including Legal, Finance, MarComm.
  • Approve proposals for renewals and/or provide recommendations to the CDO within budget constraints for existing and prospective partnerships.
  • Strategically assess the workflow, processes, and resources of the project managers.
  • In collaboration with Development VPs and Directors, co-design proposals, sponsored assets, and events for existing and new partners.
  • Ensure corporate, foundation, individual and government partnerships are activated, completed to meet or exceed expectations, and relationships are appropriately managed, and proposals are achievable.
  • Collaborate and represent the interests of the Development manager's team and sponsorship/partnership opportunities throughout GSUSA (i.e. on cross-functional teams, internal meetings, movement committees) to maximize sponsorship opportunities in a manner mutually beneficial for GSUSA, Girl Scout councils, and active or prospective sponsors/grantors.
  • Manage communications to councils, GSUSA teams and sponsors, as appropriate, monitoring the progress and success and/or challenges of the sponsorship/grant and flagging any concerns to larger cross-functional team to resolve or mitigate any barriers to success.
  • Build, implement, and oversee sponsorship project plans that will deliver the intended outcomes and deliverables to serve the sponsor or grantor, Girl Scout councils and GSUSA internal cross-functional partners with superior customer service.
  • Manage and track budgets; ensuring funds are spent and reallocated as necessary in accordance with agreement terms. External budgetary responsibility is approximately $5-$10MM with $100K signing authority.
  • Direct the marketing and promotion of sponsorships/partnerships, product development and research in accordance with GSUSA branded materials.
  • Oversee the project management's team administration of sub-award grants to councils to engage girls in corporate sponsorship; Track and report on progress, provide proactive coaching to Councils throughout the grant cycle to ensure all grant responsibilities are being achieved.
  • Provide sponsors and/or grantors with a consistent form of measurement of their return on investment; work cross-functionally to identify qualitative and quantitative metrics to inform project outcomes to develop interim and/or final reports to be shared with GSUSA, councils, and the funder.
  • Manage the performance and development of individual team members, establishing clear performance measurement criteria with regular check-ins (including mid-year check-ins and year end review process) to enhance their performance, development, and engagement.

REQUIRED TECHNICAL SKILLS:

  • Strong command of Microsoft Office, specifically Excel and PowerPoint
  • Experience with project management tools and software e.g. Salesforce
  • Some experience in fundraising software, Raiser's Edge or similar suites.

REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor's degree or relevant experience; MBA preferred
  • Fifteen (15) years prior experience in a senior-level management or staff position with responsibility over multidisciplinary functions
  • Ten+ years sponsorship, project management, partnerships, sales, advertising, grants management, or marketing experience
  • Knowledge of the fundraising grants life cycle, including digital program and experience development
  • Five years of experience managing a team of 5+ staff, multiple partnerships and vendors simultaneously.

WORK ENVIRONMENT: This job operates in a professional office environment.

POSITION TYPE / EXPECTED HOURS OF WORK: This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday with a 35 hour per week schedule. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand.

Salary Range $122,700 -$215,000
