Responsibilities:
The Vice President, Financial Operations serves as the financial liaison for Network Hospital Service lines for providing financial support in performance, analysis, and operationalizing changes for improving results in coordination with Network Finance Division.
The VP, Financial Operations serves as a leader, advisor, and educator, on financial matters for Network Department leaders and supports departments in making timely and informed financially sound decisions. This position works under the direction of the Networks Chief Financial Officer.
Essential job functions include:
- Collaborates with Hospital team leaders to develop tools and metrics to evaluate performance of target initiatives.
- Produces comprehensive executive summaries and reports; presents data in effective, clear formats tailored to the needs of specific audiences including managers and staff.
- Aides in the execution of strategies approved by Senior Management as required with strategic insight and decision support.
- Research and benchmarks best practice models to improve financial and operational efficiencies. Analyzes complex processes and assists in developing recommendations and solutions through best practices.
- Partners with hospital and departmental leadership to identify and assess opportunities for improvement. Conducts business initiative analysis, monitors status of initiatives and projects and makes recommendations for improvements.
- Participate with Network Strategy Deployment system using tools to measure effectiveness of objective and outcomes.
- Oversee monthly Network financial close process and reporting of financial results to leaders and applicable Board of Trustee committees.
- Translate unique attributes of sole community and critical access hospitals, into workplans and optimizing results.
- Focus on other operating revenue sources such as 340B, third party incentives, NYS funding programs to supplement information and assess opportunities for funding.
- Oversee completion of Network Hospitals IRS form 990 Schedule H
- Review budget variances with hospital departments in areas of volume, revenue, and expense.
- Perform product line reviews in coordination with Network Managers using information and assumptions.
- Oversee Network Home office reporting system for Medicare Cost reporting.
- Identify unique funding levels in Medicaid and Medicare based on rural provider status.
- Review information used in development of NYS Certificate of Need (CON) for financial and operational goals of these program initiatives.
- Coordinate with Network CFO and Network COO the prioritization of work plans
- Attend Hospital department meetings for transfer of information and results on finances, volumes and quality.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Education:
- 4 year / Bachelor's Degree in Accounting required
- Master's Degree in Business preferred
- Experience may be considered in lieu of education
Experience:
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in senior level financial healthcare management, required
- At least 3 years of acute hospital experience in a multi-hospital system, preferred
- Knowledge of Lawson/INFOR, preferred
- Knowledge of Strata, preferred
Licensure/Certifications:
- NYS Certified Public Accountant license preferred
