Organization Overview:

We are a dynamic and growing non-profit organization with a mission-driven focus. With a current budget of $6.7 million, we are aiming to increase our funding to $10 million over the next couple of years. The Vice President of Development will play a critical role in achieving this growth and ensuring the sustainability of our operations.

Position Overview:

The Vice President of Development will lead and manage our development team, overseeing all aspects of fundraising and donor relations. Reporting directly to the CEO, this senior-level role is responsible for cultivating relationships with major donors, planning and executing key fundraising events, and ensuring that our team meets its revenue goals.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Leadership and Team Management: Supervise and support a team of five, including a Grant Manager, Fundraising Specialist, Director of Donor Relations, Manager of Strategic Partnerships, and Manager of Communications and Events.
  • Fundraising Strategy: Develop and implement strategies to increase funding from individual donors, corporations, foundations, and government sources.
  • Major Donor Relations: Cultivate and manage relationships with major donors to secure and enhance contributions.
  • Event Planning: Oversee the planning and execution of two major fundraising events each year.
  • Revenue Tracking: Monitor and track all donations and ensure accurate reporting.
  • Team Collaboration: Foster a collaborative environment and ensure the development team works cohesively to achieve fundraising goals.
  • Board Interaction: Work effectively with the board of directors, providing updates and insights on fundraising progress and strategies.
  • Grant Oversight: Manage and oversee grant writing and ensure effective use of grant funds.

Qualifications:

  • Proven experience in a senior development role within a non-profit organization, with a track record of success in fundraising and donor relations.
  • Strong experience in managing and leading a development team.
  • Experience with fundraising from individuals, corporations, foundations, and government sources.
  • Demonstrated ability to cultivate major donor relationships and secure significant contributions.
  • Experience planning and executing major fundraising events.
  • Strong collaborative skills with the ability to work effectively with senior leaders and board members.
  • Grant management experience, including oversight of grant writing and reporting.
  • Ability to work in a hybrid work model with flexibility to travel within the citys five boroughs.
  • Three to Five years experience as a Deputy Director, VP or Chief Development Officer.
  • Bachelors degree required, Masters preferred
  • CFRE certification preferred
