Job Description:

Vice President of Global Supply Chain is responsible for the leadership and management of the company's global supply chain operations, including Freight Forwarding, Fulfillment/Distribution, and Customs Brokerage divisions. This role oversees all areas of global business such as sales, logistics, and compliance. The VP of Global Supply Chain drives strategic initiatives, optimizes global logistics, and ensures compliance with international trade regulations, ensuring customer satisfaction and operational profitability.

Responsibilities and essential job functions include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Generate new business and revenue while improving gross margins and profitability.
  • Develop and execute the global supply chain strategy to align with business growth objectives, focusing on freight forwarding, customs brokerage, and fulfillment/distribution services.
  • Lead and drive continuous improvements in end-to-end supply chain operations, ensuring efficiency, compliance, and profitability.
  • Manage end-to-end international logistics operations, including air, sea, and land transportation, ensuring timely and cost-effective delivery.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with global carriers, shipping lines, and air freight providers to ensure reliable and cost-efficient services.
  • Oversee the management of customs brokerage services, ensuring compliance with global customs regulations and efficient customs clearance for all international shipments.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with customs authorities and regulatory agencies to streamline customs processes and avoid delays.
  • Direct the fulfillment/distribution division, ensuring inventory, warehousing, and distribution processes meet customer demands and service level agreements (SLAs).
  • Implement strategies to optimize warehousing and distribution processes, reducing lead times and costs while improving delivery accuracy and customer satisfaction.
  • Continuously assess partner performance and adjust partnerships based on service levels, cost-effectiveness, and reliability.
  • Ensure full compliance with international trade laws, customs regulations, and environmental standards across the supply chain, including freight forwarding, customs brokerage, and fulfillment/distribution activities.
  • Develop and track key performance indicators (KPIs) such as shipping costs, delivery times, and client satisfaction metrics; provide regular financial and operational reports to senior leadership.
  • Oversee the global supply chain budgets, focusing on improving the financial performance of freight forwarding, customs brokers, and fulfillment/distribution operations.
  • Drive continuous improvement in fulfillment/distribution, freight forwarding, and customs brokerage processes, using data and analytics to identify opportunities and implement technology solutions for operational enhancements and efficiencies.
  • Promote innovation in freight forwarding processes and customer service.
  • Foster a positive work environment; mentoring, coaching, individual and team accountability, and developing team members to provide opportunities for growth; developing current and future leaders for the organization.

Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • High School Diploma or GED required; Bachelor's Degree in Business or similar field of study with emphasis in: International Business, Logistics/Supply Chain Management, or Transportation preferred.
  • 12+ years' working knowledge in International Freight Forwarding; Imports/Exports, Air/Ocean, Customs Brokerage, Fulfillment/Distribution Sales and Operations.
  • 9+ years' experience in a supervisory or management role leading high-performance teams.
  • Previous freight management software experience; Cargowise One and McLeod a plus.
  • Must be able to read, write, and speak English fluently.
  • Deep understanding of international trade laws, customs compliance, and global shipping regulations.
  • Proven experience in negotiating contracts with carriers, freight forwarders, and other vendor partners.
  • Ability to close and manage large account business and drive organic growth of existing accounts.
  • Strong team-building and interpersonal skills with the ability to build trust and cultivate relationships.
  • Visionary leader with the ability to use their knowledge, skills, and influence to guide and inspire others to reach their potential and achieve individual, team, and company goals and objectives.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and oral, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to clearly and effectively communicate with people at all levels of the organization.
  • Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment with rapidly changing priorities, meet deadlines, work well under pressure, and maintain discretion on confidentiality matters while maintaining a positive attitude and providing unmatched customer service.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Willingness and ability to travel frequently to meet with sales leaders, team members, and high-level prospects and customers.
