Bantam Communications seeks a strategic and forward-thinking leader to spearhead the firm's approach to building social license for renewable energy projects and achieving optimal permitting outcomes for our clients. As the VP of Strategy, you will drive Bantam's overall approach to improving, streamlining, and modernizing local siting + permitting. As part of this pivotal role, you will also oversee Bantam's Research & Strategy department, a team of skilled researchers and strategists, driving the development and execution of cutting-edge strategies that propel our clients' clean energy projects to success. Reporting to the President, you will play a crucial part in shaping Bantam's strategic direction while fostering industry partnerships and staying ahead of emerging trends.
Key Responsibilities
- Vision and Leadership: Provide visionary leadership and guidance to the Research & Strategy team as well as across Bantam's entire organization, ensuring cohesive collaboration and professional growth.
- Permitting Strategy: Direct Bantam's approach to supporting client efforts to permit utility-scale wind, solar, and storage projects nationwide. Collaborate cross-functionally to build/improve systems and processes to navigate regulatory requirements, authentically engage project communities, address permitting challenges and facilitate seamless project execution within established timelines and budgets.
- Permitting Campaign Oversight and Counsel: Oversee the development of comprehensive campaign strategies tailored to each project's unique objectives, working closely with Bantam's strategists and clients to ensure alignment and successful outcomes.
- Industry Expertise and Thought Leadership: Stay abreast of industry trends, regional partnerships, best practices, and emerging technologies within the clean energy sector. Drive continuous improvement across Bantam's renewable energy initiatives, implementing innovative approaches to permitting campaigns and advocacy efforts.
- Stakeholder Engagement and Collaboration: Foster strong relationships with industry partners, clients, and cross-functional teams, ensuring effective communication and collaboration to achieve shared goals and objectives.
- Research Excellence: Oversee the team that produces high-quality research reports and the implementation of strategic initiatives derived from research insights. Ensure the accuracy, relevance, and timeliness of research outputs, leveraging data-driven insights to inform decision-making and drive project success.
Qualifications and Experience
- Proven leadership experience in a strategy-focused role within the renewable energy sector or comparable land use + community affairs experience.
- Extensive knowledge of utility-scale renewable energy projects, local permitting processes, and federal, state, and local regulatory frameworks related to clean energy deployment.
- Demonstrated ability to lead and mentor teams, fostering a collaborative and high-performing work environment.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to synthesize complex information and develop actionable strategies.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to effectively engage with clients, partners, and cross-functional teams.
