Opportunity Overview

The VP of Supply Chain is responsible for the overall strategy and execution of DeZURIK's supply chain, staying abreast of trending economic and business conditions and industry best practices and adjusting and implementing the actions of the supply chain team as needed.

The ideal candidate will have extensive experience leading supply chain teams in a high-mix, low-volume (HMLV) manufacturing environment and be proactive, detail-oriented, and agile with a disposition towards continuous improvement. The Position

Reporting to the CEO, the VP of Supply Chain is responsible for the overall strategy and execution of DeZURIK's supply chain, which includes Strategic Sourcing and Supplier Quality. Responsibilities include ensuring the development of a robust and efficient supply base (domestic and international) to maximize flexibility, mitigate risk, and ensure DeZURIK receives the best overall value (cost, lead-time, quality, and terms) for purchased items. The VP of Supply Chain will lead efforts for supplier identification, supply agreement/supplier contract negotiations, and supplier quality. Direct reports include Sourcing Managers and a Director of Supplier Quality.

The VP of Supply Chain will stay abreast of trending economic and business conditions affecting the supply chain, as well as industry best practices, adjusting and implementing the actions of the supply chain team as needed.

Key responsibilities include to:

  • Develop and execute DeZURIK's overall supply chain strategy.
  • Provide overall leadership and management of the Supply Chain team consisting of Strategic Sourcing Managers and a Director of Supplier Quality.
  • Lead alternate sourcing activities to ensure reliability of supply; leverage material savings without reducing quality or performance.
  • Lead strategic sourcing activities for both domestic and international suppliers, including the identification and development of new suppliers for materials, including castings, machined and fabricated components, assemblies, hardware, and accessories.
  • Lead the design and execution of global logistics to efficiently deliver materials to DeZURIK's manufacturing facilities in the U.S. and Canada.
  • Lead negotiations with suppliers on supply agreements and terms, ensuring that DeZURIK receives the best possible value (cost, lead-time, quality, and terms); take primary responsibility for escalation and resolution of purchasing related issues.
  • Support quality initiatives, including ISO audits, supplier audits, and Supplier Corrective Action Response (SCAR) activities.
  • Measure and drive strategic supplier performance through supplier scorecards.
  • Drive employee training and development; ensure skillsets, performance, and organizational capability can support current and future business needs.
  • Drive continuous improvement within the department; document and standardize processes and procedures to ensure consistency.
  • Drive alignment with Plant Purchasing to ensure that Strategic Sourcing and local buyers are working together to deliver high supplier reliability and best value.

Candidate Profile

The VP of Supply Chain will have a proven track record of success leading supply chain activities. The fully qualified candidate will have a bachelor's degree in supply chain management, business administration, engineering, or a recognized equivalency. This individual should have a minimum of 10 years of progressive experience and increasing responsibility in supply chain management, global procurement, and contract negotiations. Experience in leading and managing supply chain teams at a manufacturer is required; high-mix, low-volume (HMLV) experience is strongly preferred. NetSuite experience is preferred.

The ideal candidate will be proactive, detail-oriented, and agile with a disposition towards continuous improvement. Having a track record of problem-solving and continuous improvement, along with formal training or certification in structured problem-solving and continuous improvement (e.g., Lean/Six Sigma), is desired. Generally, this individual will be process-oriented with the ability to use judgement as to when deviation from the standard process is appropriate.

Additional functional experience could include:

  • Negotiating with suppliers for best overall price, delivery, availability, and terms; having a track record of increased supplier reliability and material savings.
  • Buying and managing castings, machined and fabricated components, assemblies, hardware, and electronics (highly desirable).
  • Working with engineering drawings, specifications, Bills of Materials, and other engineering documentation; having experience with engineering change order (ECO) process.
  • Managing global logistics to efficiently deliver materials to manufacturing facilities in the U.S. and Canada.
  • Sourcing for new product development (NPD) and/or R&D activities.
  • Working within an ISO 9001:2015 quality management system, including experience with ISO process audits.

The successful candidate must have excellent business acumen and financial aptitude (for budgeting, forecasting, and analysis) with strong communication skills and the ability to think strategically. He or she will have an outstanding track record and a reputation for driving improvement with business judgment, leadership skills, and integrity. This individual must have the ability to establish immediate credibility at all levels, inside and outside the organization.

Location

The VP of Supply Chain will be based in DeZURIK's Sartell, Minnesota, headquarters, and the role will require travel 25-40% of the time. Remote, home office-based locations may also be considered.
