Job Description:

PRIMARY PURPOSE: Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer, the Vice President, Technology and Data Strategy will establish and deliver a comprehensive strategy to support the North Texas Food Bank's technology, data, reporting, analytics and cybersecurity needs. As a member of the Executive Team and a key business partner, this role will understand the needs for effective and efficient organizational processes and solutions while leading a high-performing team. The Vice President will orchestrate and build IT and business intelligence solutions providing vision, leadership and management to ensure that the Food Bank efficiently and effectively meets long-term and annual goals. This will be achieved through developing and executing a technology roadmap integrated with business needs, digital strategies (including future technologies like AI), information security, data and analytics, systems implementations/maintenance, vendor relationships and day-to-day IT operations supporting staff.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Education:

  • Bachelor's or advanced degree in information technology, information systems or related field/work experience

Experience:

  • Fifteen years' experience in strategic technology and data analytics in corporate, nonprofit or food-related industries with a proven track record in progressively responsible positions
  • Five or more years of direct management experience

  • Proficient in migrating legacy systems to cloud environments (e.g., ERP systems, data warehouse) with strong cybersecurity and data governance
  • Experience in supply chain or food delivery operations a plus
  • Proven track record of piloting new concepts and solutions in agile environments (e.g., AI strategy, data analytics)
  • Expertise in data security and a wide range of cybersecurity solutions
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with ability to translate complex IT concepts to non-technical audience.
  • Strong ability to build trust and influence stakeholders
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office, data analytics/warehouse tools
  • Demonstrated ability to consult, advise and collaborate with peers, partners, vendors and team
  • Able to multi-task, self-directed and well-organized
  • Exercises sound judgement and objective decision-making
  • Strong negotiation and vendor management skills

PRINCIPLE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Leadership:

  • Understand business needs and lead change across the organization to best utilize technology and business intelligence for current and future technologies (i.e. AI, data strategies, revenue generation, data warehouse, governance)
  • Lead, inspire, mentor, develop, hire and guide a team of IT and data professionals, fostering a collaborative and productive work environment
  • Employ change management methodologies, processes and tools to support adoption of the changes required by enterprise-level initiatives
  • Ensure the right internal policies and controls are developed and implemented for risk mitigation

Information:

  • Lead development and execution of data analytics and business intelligence strategies to support data-driving decision making
  • Develop a digital transformation roadmap supporting NTFB's mission, vision and strategic priorities
  • Drive innovative user experiences by leveraging data-driven insights across multiple stakeholder groups, including neighbors served, partners, suppliers, donors and employees
  • Establish strategic relationships to garner cost effective or in-kind solutions/services
  • Leverage connections across food banking/Feeding America network for impact
  • Establish and cultivate centers of excellence to support business needs including direct and dotted line reports and other relevant staff

Technology leadership:

  • Oversee the technology infrastructure, ensuring it is reliable, scalable and secure
  • Oversee the execution of all technology initiatives, aligning and prioritizing the team's work with the organization's strategic plan and initiative goals
  • Develop IT solutions and reengineer business processes to enhance efficiency, effectiveness and ease of use
  • Maximize the mix and cost optimization of in-house vs. outsourced services
  • Set standards and define architectures; lead data integration
  • Define, analyze and maintain IT performance metrics
  • Support technology solutions that make processes more efficient and cost-effective
  • Represent NTFB's technology strategy with partners, donors, and industry associations
  • Oversee technology operations with an acute focus on information security
  • Lead training and resources to ensure new technologies are integrated consistently across the organization

Strategy:

  • Create the framework and structure for the regular development and review of IT and Data Analytics department strategy, roadmaps with timelines, costs and integrations
  • Maintain and reevaluate strategic direction in support of mission and vision
  • Lead and facilitate the process of regular review of department strategy
  • Build and evolve roadmap for short-, medium-, and longer-term initiatives, implementing and supporting departments with continuous prioritization
  • Drive cross-functional initiatives that rely on quantitative and qualitative analysis including data analysis, community interviews and involvement and subject-matter expert contributions
  • Help the organization measure success against its strategy with data collection for key metrics
  • Enhance and facilitate the use of data and analytics in decision making and strategy implementation across the organization to maximize impact
  • Build and maintain alignment across departments for enterprise strategic priorities and projects

Security:

  • Ensure robust data governance, ethical use and cybersecurity practices and policies, with clear documentation and communication
  • Ensure staff are trained to identify potential phishing or cyber risks and how to report
  • Work with Finance on the appropriate level of cybersecurity insurance and compliance related to insurability
  • Update business continuity plan annually related to technology

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Oversee a team of approximately 10-13 people with a center of excellence focused on business intelligence and a center of excellence focused on technology and integration. Will include direct and indirect reports as well as accountability for vendor relationships that support the data and technology needs of the organization.

  • The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.

ENVIRONMENTAL FACTORS:

  • Moderate noise (i.e. business office with open floor plan with computers, phone, and printers, light traffic)
  • Ability to travel up to 25% within the food bank service area and occasionally out of area
