Examples of Duties The intent of this job description is to provide a representative summary of the primary duties and responsibilities performed by incumbents in this position. - Educates victims and witnesses on their rights, criminal justice processes, and the resources available to them
- Identifies and responds to the mental, physical, financial, and emotional needs of victims
- Monitors court activity and communicates case status and legal proceedings to victims and witnesses
- Serves as an advocate and liaison for victims and witnesses with law enforcement, prosecution, judicial members, and other agencies
- Provides crisis intervention, emotional support, and guidance to victims and witnesses
- Consults with prosecuting attorneys regarding trial preparation
- Assists in preparing victims and witnesses to testify and provides reassurance to reluctant witnesses
- Accompanies victims and witnesses to all court proceedings, providing transportation when needed
- Orients victims to the Crime Victim Compensation Program and assists with the application process when appropriate
- Provides ongoing advocacy for the rights and care of victims, witnesses, and survivors within the criminal justice system
- Maintains a high level of discretion, tact, and confidentiality when working on highly sensitive subject matter matters and materials
- Professionally interacts with the public, law enforcement officers, attorneys, judges, court staff, and colleagues
- Maintains current knowledge of the Victim/Witness Program
- Maintains confidentiality of non-public records and makes available all data and information deemed a public record by the North Dakota Century Code.

Compensation: Starting pay ranges from $26.11 to $28.72 per hour, based on qualifications and experience.
