As a Victim Advocate (VA), you will provide essential services to victims of domestic abuse and families affected by Problematic Sexual Behavior in Children and Youth (PSB-CY), helping to ensure their safety, well-being, and access to critical resources.
YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES:
Advocacy and Support:- Provide 24/7 crisis intervention and emotional support to victims of domestic abuse.
- Develop individualized safety plans and provide victims with essential resources.
- Assist victims in navigating medical, legal, and community systems ensuring comprehensive care.
- Coordinate with Exceptional Family Member Program, Emergency Placement Care (EPC), and conduct EPC awareness and training.
Program Coordination:- Recruit, train, and support care providers for emergency placement services.
- Maintain detailed records of program activities and ensure compliance with all applicable regulations.
- Develop and implement awareness programs promoting safety and prevention within the community.
Collaboration and Outreach:- Partner with local organizations, medical personnel, and law enforcement ensuring seamless service delivery.
- Conduct training sessions and briefings to increase awareness and understanding of victim advocacy.
- Act as a liaison ensuring gaps in available resources are identified and addressed.
WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR:
Education:
- Bachelors degree in social work, psychology, counseling, or related field from an accredited institution.
Experience:
- Minimum of two (2) years experience in victim advocacy, including crisis prevention and safety planning.
- At least one (1) year of EPC coordination experience within a Military Family Support Center or similar civilian agency.
- Valid, unrestricted motor vehicle license.
Licensure & Certifications:
- Certification in Victim Advocacy is preferred.
Skills & Competencies:
- Knowledge and Expertise:
- Strong understanding of family violence dynamics and risk assessment.
- Familiarity with local and federal laws related to victim advocacy and host country regulations.
- Awareness of Status of Forces Agreement (SOFA) protocols and guidelines relevant to the U.S. military community in Germany.
- Communication and Interpersonal Skills:
- Exceptional ability to communicate effectively and build trust with individuals in crisis.
- Skilled at maintaining confidentiality and professionalism in sensitive situations.
- Technical Proficiency:
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and database management systems.
- Problem-Solving and Decision-Making:
- Ability to assess risk and provide appropriate interventions in high-pressure situations.
- Strong organizational and time management skills balancing multiple priorities consecutively.
WORK CONDITIONS:
Work Environment:
- This position requires flexibility to work extended hours, including participation in a rotational 24/7 on-call schedule.
Schedule:
- Standard hours of operation are Monday through Friday, 8:00 am. to 5:00 pm, with occasional regional travel (fifty (50) mile radius) for training and outreach.
Travel Requirements:
- Must be available for regional on-call travel to provide VA and PSB-CY services (within a fifty (50) mile radius).
- Long-distance travel may be required for training, including one (1) Outside Continental United States (OCONUS) and one (1) Continental United States (CONUS) event annually.
