Working together, employees at APU commit to establishing a university atmosphere that is edifying to God and to one another.The Video Producer/Visual Storyteller is responsible for the creation of short-form films/videos that support the university's marketing and communication goals, and distributing them on the university's website, various online outlets, and beyond. The Video Producer/Visual Storyteller possesses a thorough understanding of short-form cinematography, video sound, video editing, video post-production, and online video encoding. This position oversees and actively engages in storyboarding, scripting, coordinating video shoots, editing video, post-production, and delivery (online, digital files,) of video content. In this role, the Video Producer/Visual Storyteller works closely with the Associate Vice President of Strategic Communication and Engagement and other divisional team members (including the Vice President for Strategic Communication and Engagement) and internal university partners to determine the needs for each video project and to gather requirements and advise clients in order to create videos that are aligned and consistent with Azusa Pacific's mission and brand. The Video Producer/Visual Storyteller supports the integrated recruitment and promotional plans of various university partners by supplementing the plans with appropriate video content/projects. The Video Producer/Visual Storyteller will participate in managing internal client relationships, as well as working closely with the web team in order to integrate video content onto the university's website and the public relations manager to share content for social media. The Video Producer/Visual Storyteller leads a team of student interns in the development of video content, training them in the craft and art of short-form video production. Required Education
  • Bachelor's degree in Film Production, Communications, Media Studies, or a related field
Required Experience
  • 1-3 years of experience in film production and working knowledge of Final Cut Pro and Adobe Creative Suite.
Primary Duties/Essential Functions
  • Gather and propose ideas, topics, and requirements for video projects.
  • Storyboard, script, shoot, and edit (including sound) video projects.
  • Coordinate resources (subjects, crew, etc.) for video projects.
  • Coordinate and manage video assets (camera, lights, accessories, video files).
  • Develop and adhere to schedules, including several concurrent project schedules.
  • Collaborate with the marketing team on the development of video strategies that support digital marketing plans.
  • Collaborate in the development content marketing strategies and the video content to support the strategies.
  • Develop an understanding of, and implementation of, microstories across multiple delivery channels (desktop, mobile, etc.)
  • Participate in video budget estimates when necessary.
  • Ensure video projects with budget requirements stay within budget.
  • Lead, train, and support a team of student interns in video production.
  • Maintain and stay current on latest online video trends with an emphasis on the use of video among universities.
  • Function as University Relations' visual storytelling liaison with Media Services and other university offices in film-related projects.
  • Manage video production intern(s).
  • Regular, punctual attendance as required by the supervisor based on department needs.
  • Performs other duties as required by the supervisor.
Skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work professionally with many levels of partners (including university students, faculty, administrators, alumni, community members, etc.).
  • Must have demonstrated ability to deliver creative, high-quality short-form video in schedule and within budget.
  • A solid understanding of documentary-style storytelling through video.
  • High attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage numerous projects simultaneously as well as influence others to achieve desired results.
Mental Demands
  • Demonstrate exceptional editing competency.
  • Ability to function independently and facilitate team projects.

Physical Demands
  • Continuous sitting/filming more than six hours daily;
  • Repetitive wrist and finger motion at the keyboard;
  • Able to pull, grasp, bend, and lift up to 50 lbs. occasionally.
  • Must be able to climb a flight of stairs multiple times daily to access the office.
Visual Demands
  • Extensive reading, computer usage, and review of printing.
Environment
  • Pleasant office setting, comfortable temperature.
  • Fast paced, highly energetic.
Technologies
  • Extensive understanding and proficiency in the use of Adobe Premiere, Adobe Audition, Adobe After Effects, and Adobe Photoshop.
  • Must have a familiarity with various online web services and solutions including YouTube, Vimeo, Flickr, and others.
  • Proficient in Google Apps, Microsoft Office, Word and Excel.
Compensation
  • Grade 12: $30.67 to $35.27 is the hourly compensation for this role and reflects what Azusa Pacific University reasonably expects to pay for this position. Actual compensation may vary based on the qualifications, experience, and internal equity. In addition to compensation, APU offers a competitive benefits package.
