Job DescriptionAbout the RoleLocated within The New York Times corporate headquarters in New York City, The Times Center is a world-class, state-of-the-art special events venue hosting approximately 200 corporate and arts events annually, including New York Times specific events.The Times Center Video Supervisor is responsible for the management, pre-production, and technical execution of video and live streaming elements of events in the venue.Responsibilities:
  • Be the Lead Video Engineer/Livestream Director for events
  • Manage & Train Video TechniciansSchedule Technicians for events
  • Create and update documentation relating to video systems in the venueInterface with external video vendors to integrate their equipment into the venue systems
  • Plan and implement upgrades to video systemsParticipate in pre-production calls and plan video systems in collaboration with Production Management
  • Operate equipment during events including (but not limited to):Limit Timer Video, Switcher, Encoders, Cameras
  • Manage event archives
  • Interface with IT department for livestream networking needs
  • Maintain all video and live streaming equipment in good working order
  • Maintain cleanliness of storage and production areasMove equipment and items throughout the venue when needed
  • Demonstrate support and understanding of our value of journalistic independence and a strong commitment to our mission to seek the truth and help people understand the world.
  • The Video Supervisor reports directly to the Supervising Production Manager and the Managing Director of The Times Center.
Basic Qualifications:
  • 4+ years experience in video engineering/production in a broadcast, live event production, theatrical production and/or corporate event environment, preferably in a lead/supervisory role.
  • 2+ years experience in live stream production
  • Barco Switcher systems and general video production/switching concepts such as: layers, destination types, input/output assignments, etc.
  • Working knowledge of Christie & Panasonic Projector systems
  • Working knowledge of DCP and Dolby Media Servers
  • Experience with signal routing and matrix routers, such as AJA Kumo systems
  • Live streaming setups and PTZ Camera systems experience
  • Understanding of multiple video formats and applications
  • Basic IP/Networking knowledge
  • Ability to lift up to 50lbs.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Additional skills or experiences that would be beneficial but not mandatory, etc.
  • CAD-based Drafting Programs (Vectorworks preferred)
  • Video Playback software such as Mitti
  • VMix
  • Microsoft Office Suite & Keynote
  • Windows & iOS
  • Strong Collaborator
