About The Village Wellness Center

The Village Wellness Center is a new school/community-based health and wellness center dedicated to providing a comprehensive range of health education, behavioral health, and wellness services to marginalized communities. We prioritize culturally responsive care and diversity appreciation in all our services, fostering holistic well-being in youth, individuals and families. Our mission is to enhance the physical, mental, and emotional health of those we serve, creating stronger, healthier families and communities.

Position Overview

The Director of The Village Wellness Center (VMC) will lead and manage all aspects of the center's operations, programs, and strategic initiatives. The Director will be responsible for ensuring the delivery of high-quality, culturally competent health and wellness services that empower individuals and families. This new role requires a visionary leader with a strong commitment to social justice, equity, and community-based care. The Director will work closely with staff, community partners, and stakeholders to advance the center's mission and impact.

Key Responsibilities
  • Leadership & Strategy

    • Develop and implement strategic plans to advance the center's mission, vision, and goals.

    • Provide visionary leadership to guide the center's programs, services, and community outreach.

    • Foster a culture of collaboration, inclusivity, and excellence within the organization.

    • Serve as a resource for organization staff experiencing workplace stress, vicarious trauma, and burnout. Provide individual coaching that emphasizes healthy boundaries, self-care, and encourages staff to seek external resources when needed.

    • Oversee an internship program. Provide clinical supervision to interns pursuing a Master of Social Work (MSW), Master of Science in Counseling and staff pursuing licensure (LCSW or LCPC).

  • Program Development & Management

    • Oversee the design, implementation, and evaluation of health education, behavioral health, and wellness programs.

    • Provide oversight to ensure the successful planning, development, implementation and evaluation of a portfolio of community health and engagement initiatives, programs and events within VWC, ensuring strategic alignment in collaboration with It Takes A Village Family of Schools needs, health & wellness priorities and strategies and organizational mission.

    • Ensure that all services are culturally responsive, trauma-informed, evidence-based, and aligned with the needs of the communities served.

    • Expand and innovate service offerings, including in-clinic, in-home, and telehealth options.

    • Provide written and verbal guidance to staff regarding the handling of situations that arise within the programs, adhering to best practices and a culturally responsive, trauma-informed approach.

    • Ensure client grievances are addressed in a timely manner and are in accordance with VWC grievance procedure.

  • Community Engagement & Partnerships

    • Proactively seek, identify and create opportunities for innovation, collaboration and partnership, while staying abreast of emerging trends, best practices, and evidence-based interventions in the field of community health and share with direct reports.

    • Oversee the facilitation of community and city-wide convenings, including designing and coordinating training sessions, workshops, and forums.

    • Build and maintain strong relationships with community organizations, schools, healthcare providers, and other stakeholders.

    • Represent the center in public forums, conferences, and community events.

  • Operations & Financial Management

    • Lead and oversee program operations, logistics, financial stewardship, budget projections, expenditure tracking, and resource allocation to optimize efficiency and effectiveness while maintaining high-quality deliverables and timely reporting on project progress, outcomes and impact.

    • Oversee the day-to-day operations of the center, including staff supervision, facility management, and service delivery.

    • Manage the center's budget, ensuring financial sustainability and efficient resource allocation.

    • Identify and pursue funding opportunities, including grants, donations, and partnerships.

  • Staff Development & Supervision

    • Lead and mentor a diverse team of professionals, including therapists, case managers, and support staff.

    • Conduct personnel management responsibilities, supervise staff and oversee performance, including hiring, separating, promoting, demoting, conducting performance evaluations, setting goals and providing feedback to ensure alignment with organizational objectives and individual development needs.

    • Ensure a supportive and collaborative work environment that reflects the center's values and commitment to social justice.

    • Provide supervision hours for LSW staff.

  • Quality Assurance & Compliance

    • Monitor and ensure compliance with all relevant regulations, standards, and best practices.

    • Lead and oversee program evaluation and quality improvement efforts by designing robust data collection mechanisms, analyzing programmatic outputs and outcomes, and synthesizing findings to inform strategic decision-making and continuous quality improvement.

    • Implement quality assurance processes to evaluate the effectiveness of programs and services.

  • Perform additional duties as assigned

  • Qualifications
  • Education & Experience

    • Masters degree in Social Work, Counseling, Psychology, or a closely related field required.

    • LCPC or LCSW required.

    • A minimum of 7 years of experience in social work, community health or health and wellness management, with at least 3 years in a leadership role.

    • Proven track record of developing and managing community-based programs, particularly in marginalized communities.

    • Experience in budget management, fundraising, and strategic planning.

  • Skills & Competencies

    • Strong commitment to social justice, equity, and culturally responsive care.

    • Proficient in the administration of IM+CANs.

    • Knowledgeable in the use of a variety of assessment tools that span different aspects of mental health, behavioral health, and overall well-being (i.e., ACE, BASC-3, Conners, Beck, etc.).

    • Ability to collaborate with individuals from different backgrounds and disciplines and build relationships across all levels of the organization.

    • Ability to take initiative, work independently and be self-directed. Commitment to health equity, diversity and inclusion, racial justice, evidence-informed policy and practices, data-driven advocacy and community-driven processes.

    • Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication, problem-solving, organizational and time management skills with the ability to prioritize and delegate tasks effectively.

    • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a focus on innovation and continuous improvement.

    • Expert proficiency in Microsoft Office and Google Workspace; ability to learn new technologies.

    • Access to a vehicle with a valid Illinois drivers license and insurance is required.

  • Licensure & Certification

    • Current Illinois LCPC or LCSW license required.

    • Clinical supervision certification or equivalent experience preferred.

  • Salary Range
    • $95,000-$106,500
