Posted 11/12/2024 through 12/02/2024 or until filled Pierpont Community & Technical College Job Description JOB TITLE: Virtual Reality (VR) Specialist AGENCY: Pierpont Community and Technical College WORK LOCATION: Pierpont Advanced Technology Center, 500 Galliher Drive Fairmont, West Virginia 26554 FLSA Status: Exempt Employee Category: Nonclassified GENERAL JOB SUMMARY: The Virtual Reality (VR) Instructional Specialist college will design, develop, and implement VR-based educational programs to enhance student learning and engagement across various disciplines. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Collaborate with Faculty to conceptualize and design realistic and engaging virtual reality scenarios that align with curriculum concepts
  • Utilize VR concept tools and software to develop interactive and immersive VR environments, including 3D models, animations, textures, and audio elements
  • Provide training, technical support, and documentation to faculty and staff on effectively using VR scenarios in education
  • Serve as instructional specialist in teaching VR technology to students
  • Responsible for troubleshooting, reporting, and client consultation requests specifically for the virtual reality use within targeted courses
  • Will develop, implement, and monitor a plan for update and maintenance of VR equipment
  • Conduct rigorous testing and quality assurance to provide that the VR scenarios are functional, error free, and conducive to effective learning
  • Stay updated on emerging trends, technologies, and best practices in VR, simulation based learning, and education to drive excellence and innovation in scenario development
  • Assists with the preparation of course proposals, curriculum updates, and the construction of programs.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Experience working with integrating technology into curriculum virtual reality platforms
  • Knowledge of Meta accounts and how they interact with VR equipment, software, and operating systems
  • Be knowledgeable of computer software, including the latest software applications and operating systems for immersive learning within a virtual reality environment for an educational setting
  • Able to pay attention to detail, maintain confidentiality, work independently of supervision
  • Able to deliver excellent customer care
  • Able to apply critical thinking, problem solving, and judgment skills
  • Skill in integrating technology into curriculum and other educational services
  • Skill in creating content using Open VR SDK
  • Skill in creating content using Windows Mixed Reality SDK
  • Skill in creating content using the Oculus SDK
  • Ability to translate customer requirements into a virtual construct
  • Ability to communicate effectively, verbally and in writing, and to relate to others in a professional, helpful manner
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with other department staff, faculty, students and the public
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
  • Associates degree from a regionally accredited institution in Virtual Reality Content Development, or related discipline and experience in VR development, including proficiency in VR authoring tools.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Ability to travel and visit internal and external individuals in various locations.
  • Must be able to lift 15 pounds occasionally
