Responsibilities
- Deliver individualized training in activities of daily living to clients with severe to total vision loss.
- Offer expert guidance in the adjustment to vision loss, focusing on emotional, mental, and physical adaptation.
- Provide instruction on the use of assistive technologies and low vision aids to enhance daily living.
- Tailor services to each client's unique needs, ensuring safety, independence, and improved quality of life.
- Travel throughout Alachua County to provide in-home or community-based training to clients.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including Orientation and Mobility Specialists and other rehabilitation professionals.
Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Vision Rehabilitation or a related field from an accredited institution.
- Experience: A minimum of 350 hours of internship experience under the supervision of a Certified Vision Rehabilitation Therapist, Orientation and Mobility Specialist, Low Vision Therapist, or Teacher of the Visually Impaired.
- Licensure/Certification: Certification as a Vision Rehabilitation Therapist (CVRT) from the Academy for Certification of Vision Rehabilitation and Education Professionals (ACVREP) is required. Certifications in Orientation and Mobility, Low Vision Therapy, or as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired will also be considered.
- Motor Vehicle Operation: Willingness and ability to operate a vehicle for business purposes, as this is a Frequent Driver position. A valid driver's license is required.
- Additional Requirements: Must successfully pass an AHCA Level 2 background screening.
