Job Description:
Function:Under the direct supervision of the QPC Supervisor and the Director of Family and Youth Support Services, provides supportive services to families and facilitates supervised visits between children and their biological families or children with their non-custodial parent.The incumbent must possess sound professional training and experience in the field of human services with emphasis on family dynamics and child development, a commitment to a strength based treatment philosophy; experience in using appropriate parenting skills, effective verbal and written communications, strong observation and documentation skills required, demonstrate maturity and self-awareness, and; must be culturally competent and demonstrate the ability to work with diverse populations.Typical Duties:
  • Participates in initial and ongoing training.
  • Provides support to parents that includes establishing a trusting relationship with the assigned parents(s), document all visits, phone contacts and assistance in times of crisis.
  • Write visit notes and monthly reviews based on visitation notes.
  • Co-facilitate educational groups for parents.
  • Supervises visits between children and biological parents and develops appropriate activities to ensure that the visits are meaningful.
  • Participates in scheduled supervision.
  • Completes assigned record-keeping tasks.
  • Training:Must complete initial Visit Coach Model, Supervise Visitation Network online trainings. Must complete 8 hours of professional development in addition to the required trainings each calendar year.Education/Experience/Other Requirements:A Bachelor's degree from an accredited program in Social Work, Psychology, Family Studies, Child Development or other relevant course of study preferred. Experience working with families. Experience working with parents and children who have been separated from one or more parents due to the courts and/or Department of Children and Families (DCF) is preferred. Must maintain a valid driver's license. Must be able to work a 40 hours non-structured workweek including weekends.
