Salary: Depends on QualificationsLocation : Sedalia, MOJob Type: Full-timeJob Number: 01329Department: Academic AffairsOpening Date: 01/07/2025SFCC provides a high-quality, geographically, financially and emotionally accessible education to more than 5,000 students who range from current high school to traditional college-age students to adult learners.The college offers associate of arts, associate of fine arts, associate of science and associate of applied science degrees, professional and skills certificates, and noncredit courses and programs, and workforce development training in a 14-county area in central Missouri with locations in Sedalia, Boonville, Clinton, Eldon, Lake of the Ozarks, Warsaw, at Whiteman Air Force Base, Jefferson City and online.Position: State Fair Community College has an opening for a passionate and dedicated Visual Art Instructor to teach a variety of studio art courses, including drawing, painting, sculpture, graphic design, and photography, to a diverse student population at various skill levels on the Sedalia campus. The ideal candidate will have a strong artistic background, teaching experience, and a commitment to fostering creativity and technical proficiency in students. Classes will be predominantly on the Sedalia campus but may also include extended campus sites and online at discretion of the Associate Dean. This position has a projected start date of August 1, 2025.Essential Job Functions:The instructor will be responsible for teaching a range of Art classes which may include but not limited to:•Painting•Drawing•Sculpture•Ceramics•Graphic Design•Digital Photography•PrintmakingExpectations:•The instructor is expected to teach courses in a variety of delivery methods including various parts of term and in on-ground, hybrid, Webcon and online formats.•The instructor will be responsible for the instruction and evaluation of studentperformance while maintaining the standards and integrity of both the Art curricula and the institution. •The instructor will actively recruit students wanting to major in Art through various modes of recruitment.•The instructor must be committed to retaining students and helping them achieve their academic goals through a sense of a student centeredness. •The instructor will uphold the philosophy that students learn from frequent and timely feedback in a positive environment. The ability to effectively communicate course content to today's college students through a variety of multi-media and other instructional strategies is highly desired.•Assists in the continual evaluation and enhancement of curricula through the planning process and departmental meetings.•Furthermore, the instructor must be willing to continually improve instruction through professional development. The instructor must show a willingness to assume instructional-related responsibilities and leadership roles beyond the classroom such as mentoring adjuncts, serving as lead instructor, serving on committees designed for problem solving and decision making on the division and institutional levels and leading the art program into the future by engaging in community and professional activities and efforts. Full time faculty must teach at least 15 credit hours per semester, maintain a minimum of five student hours per week and be available during the college's operating hours, Monday through Friday.The preceding duties are examples of the essential types of work performed by positions within this job classification but are not all inclusive. Management reserves the right to add, modify, change or rescind work assignments as needed.Required Qualifications:Education/Experience: •Candidate must have completed a Master's degree in Fine Arts degree or a closely related field with a minimum of 18 graduate hours in Art. •At least three years of teaching experience and a demonstrated record of teachingexcellence is required. Preference may be given to those who have in person community college teaching experience.•Desired applicants should demonstrate excellent oral and written communication skills, a passion for education, an understanding of the community college population, a commitment to the mission and a vision of SFCC, and a concern for rigorous academic standards, retention and outcomes assessment, and the mastery of active learning techniques in the classroom.•Preference is given to those with knowledge and use of Canvas and other educational tools.Skills: •Ability to plan, develop, and implement necessary curriculum.•Excellent oral and written communication skills.•Skills necessary to utilize the computer and other technology to manage and improve instruction.•Ability to interact with a broad range of people both on and off campus in a positive manner.•Demonstrated sense of student centeredness.•Ability to handle multiple concurrent projects and meet deadlines.•A willingness to take on additional responsibility and work collaborativelyPhysical Requirements:•Ability to interact verbally in person, over the telephone, and via written and electronic media.•Ability to move about campus and other locations.•Ability to sit or stand for prolonged periods of time.Please apply electronically with resume, cover letter, copy of transcripts and full and current contact information for three references. It is equivalent to your annual salary rounded up to the next even thousand dollars, i.e., $24,432 will be rounded up to $25,000. 2. Additional life insurance is available to purchase for employee, spouse, and eligible children. Rate quotes are specific to age.3. The cost for the basic additional life insurance plan is $1.58 per month for $10,000 spouse coverage and $2,500 dependent child coverage. This is a total monthly cost, regardless of the number of eligible dependents covered.The retirement rate for the Public School Retirement System (PSRS) is 14.50% of gross and is matched 100% by the college. The college match goes in to a pool from which all retirees are paid. The only FICA withheld is Medicare. No Social Security is withheld.The retirement rate for the Public Education Employee Retirement System (PEERS) is 6.86% of gross plus the monthly cost for employer provided medical and dental insurance coverage and is matched 100% by the college. Hourly employees are paid one pay period in arrears. All full-time exempt employment offers are pending the SFCC Board of Trustees approval. The board of trustees generally meet once a month typically on the third Thursday of the month at 4:00 pm. There is no waiting period for holiday, vacation, and sick time, however; theemployee must have supervisor approval prior to using sick or vacation accruals.SFCC in partnership with Central Methodist University, offer counseling sessions on the SFCC campus at no cost. Contact HR for additional information regarding this benefit.SFCC Tuition Waiver Scholarship: Regular full-time employees, spouse, and their qualified dependents receive a 100 percent scholarship tuition waiver (excluding books, fees, supplies) for all SFCC classes. The appropriate electronic tuition waiver scholarship application must be completed prior to each semester classes are attended.Central Methodist University Tuition Waiver Scholarship: CMU offers a tuition waiver scholarship for undergraduate and graduate tuition charges for FT employees each term for online and on-ground courses held on the SFCC campus.Spouse and dependent of FT SFCC employee may have undergraduate tuition charges (but not books, fees, or supplies) waived each term while attending CMU at SFCC.Any spouse (but not dependent) of a FT SFCC employee shall have 50 percent of the graduate tuition charges (not books, fees, or supplies) waived each term while attending CMU at SFCC or online.Employees and dependents/guests receive free admission to the majority of State Fair Community College's theatrical events, musical shows, and sporting events by presenting their State Fair Community College photo ID.Identity Theft covers credit reporting, personal credit scores, credit monitoring and identity restoration for employee coverage. Identity Theft is $4.98 per pay period for individual and $9.48 to add dependents under 18 years of age.Employees may purchase LegalShield, which allows the ability to talk to an attorney on any matter without worrying about the high costs associated with legal counsel. LegalShield can be purchased for $7.48 per pay period for individual and $7.88 to add dependents. Community Gardens at SFCC are available to SFCC employees at no charge. The garden plots are 20ft x 30ft, they are plowed and disked for you and water is provided free of charge. The gardens are typically available from March thru October.
