Position Summary

As the Vital Records Registration / Help Desk Specialist you will participate on a team that is responsible for the registration of Wisconsin's vital events and the maintenance of the Statewide Vital Records Information System (SVRIS). The SVRIS is the software application designed to process, register, and store all of Wisconsin's vital records including birth, death, marriage, divorce, fetal death, and induced termination of pregnancy events. In this position you will also be responsible for:

* Determining the legal acceptability of vital records for permanent registration, issuance, and archival storage within SVRIS. Amending, registering, and preparing records as mandated by Wisconsin statute.

* Providing end user support for SVRIS and its associated software applications and relaying operational information, knowledge, and analytical application needs to SVRIS users and external stakeholders across the state including but not limited to funeral homes, coroners/medical examiners, county clerks, and register of deeds.

* Participating in the development, implementation, and enhancement of SVRIS and related projects that result in changes to SVRIS.

* Participating in the testing and development reviews of SVRIS and related software applications.

* Participating in data quality cleanup efforts on registered vital records.

Salary Information

The starting pay is between $28.00 and $31.00 per hour (approximately between $58,200 and $64,400 per year) depending on qualifications, plus excellent benefits. A 12-month probationary period is required.

Pay for current or former employees is set based on the rules that apply to compensation for the applicable transaction. This position is classified as an IS Business Automation Analyst and is in pay schedule and range is 07/35.

Job Details

All applicants who may be appointed to this position will be required to allow DHS to conduct a background check to determine whether the circumstances of any conviction may be related to the job being filled.

For positions that allow remote working flexibility, working outside of Wisconsin or in bordering cities will not be allowed except in extremely limited circumstances due to the need to report to an office location in Wisconsin on short notice.

Employees must have access to both a private workspace and secure high-speed internet for remote work options. Mileage reimbursement to the employee's headquarter location is not provided. Remote work flexibility will be discussed in more detail during the interview process.

DHS does not sponsor work visas for this position, thus, in compliance with federal law, selected candidates will be required to verify eligibility to work in the United States by completing the required I-9 form upon hire.

Qualifications

Minimally qualified applicants will have all of the following:

* Experience working with a records management system (e.g., data entry, editing, quality assurance, etc.).

* Experience evaluating data for quality, accuracy, and conformance to established standards.

* Experience providing system end user support to individuals from diverse backgrounds including non-technical system users.

* Experience interpreting and applying rules, policies, or procedures.

Well-qualified applicants will have one or more of the following:

* Experience working with vital records (e.g., birth, death, marriage records, etc.), including vital records business policies and state statutes.

* Experience developing written documentation and training materials.

* Experience participating on project teams to implement or enhance existing software applications (e.g., gathering requirements, documenting specifications, testing software updates prior to deployment, etc.).
