Retina Consultants of Texas (RCTX) is seeking a Vitreoretinal Surgeon to join our growing Ocular Oncology team led by Dr. Amy Schefler in Houston. Dr. Schefler is an Associate Professor of Clinical Ophthalmology at Weill Cornell Medical College/Houston Methodist Hospital, Baylor College of Medicine (BCM), and the University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston and serves as a mentor for training in eye tumors for the medical students, residents, and fellows at these institutions. Since joining our team in 2012, along with her physician colleagues in radiation oncology, medical oncology, pediatric oncology, ophthalmic pathology, and basic science research, she has built one of the busiest eye cancer centers in the nation.

Dr. Schefler enjoys an active research collaboration with Texas Medical Center and frequently presents at premier conferences nationally and internationally.
About the position:
This physician will be fully supported from day one and can expect complete mentorship from Dr. Schefler as well as a full complement of dedicated nurses, coordinators, technicians, and ultra-sonographers and best in class equipment. Our high-volume practice offers a mixture of pediatric and adult patients and a nice balance of clinic and dedicated OR time, enabling the physician to ramp up methodically and seamlessly. The physician will initially see retina patients as well as ocular oncology patients, and as their practice grows, there is some flexibility in the volume mix of both. There are also ample opportunities for teaching, participating in research, and presenting on the national and international stage.

Qualifications:
The physician must be a board certified/board eligible vitreoretinal surgeon/ocular oncologist OR a vitreoretinal surgical fellow with the strong desire and passion to learn ocular oncology under Dr. Schefler.
