Job Duties

The Virginia Center for Behavioral Rehabilitation (VCBR), located in Burkeville, VA is a behavioral treatment center recognized for its excellence by securely housing and treating civilly committed sex offenders. VCBR provides recovery, opportunity and support to residents so they may safely return to their communities and is the only facility in the Commonwealth that provides such service.

VCBR is actively recruiting for a Vocational Aide. The purpose of the position is to provide assistance preparing residents to apply and interview, as well as assist with on-the-job training and supervision to residents who are working. They may work with other departments that are providing direct supervision to residents, ensuring that the resident is working to capacity and that any issues are quickly addressed. This position also rates a residents work to determine how the residents are accomplishing the vocational goals of their treatment plan.

The selected candidate should be able to demonstrate the following:

* Demonstrated ability to communicate and collaborate well with treatment team members.

* Ability to work under supervision, guidance, and direction.

* Demonstrated ability to document clinical information.

* Demonstrates good organizational skills.

* Demonstrates good resident interaction.

* Demonstrated skills of multi-tasking, resourceful and capable of working under pressure.

* Demonstrate familiarity with concepts such as life skills training, employment skills, consumer skills, use of community resources and health / safety skills.

* Demonstrate the ability to co-facilitate a group, and one to one intervention as related to employment skills, life skills and vocational training.

* Demonstrate appropriate boundaries between an aide and resident relationship within a vocational setting.

* Demonstrate the basic knowledge of a Vocational program and its purpose.

* Ability to monitor residents and provide appropriate guidance regarding vocational work tasks. Ability to document appropriately.

* Ability to provide appropriate feedback on individual vocational readiness goals.

Minimum Qualifications

Microsoft Office and/or related computer programs.

Additional Considerations

Experience in a forensic mental health or comparable setting

Experience working with Sex Offenders

Experience in a Vocational programming.

Experience with working in an institutional (forensic and secured) work environment
