Why does the job exist?Assist participants with disabilities, who are eligible for vocational rehabilitation services and support the counselor in serving participants toward an employment outcome. How does it get done?Issues authorizations ensuring accurate coding of services. Verify that goods or services have been rendered. Ensure the timely processing of payments. Cancel authorizations as appropriate. Provide orientation to include education regarding DVR services, process and procedures to potential participants. Activities may include: conduct screening, orientation, initial intakes. Provide employment readiness and job placement services. Activities may include conduct JSST/Job Club, administer career assessment tools, provide direct job development, support OJT activities and provide participant follow-along as necessary. Collaborate between participants and VR staff. Activities may include: function as a liaison between participants and DVR staff as necessary, coordinate VR services to include interpreter services, provide timely follow up to VRC requests for support and provide relevant information to participants and VR staff. Who are the customers?People with disabilities; New Mexico Department of Vocational Rehab (NM DVR) partner agencies; General public. Ideal CandidateBachelors degree in sociology, business, psychology, public relations or related fields Two years of experience in working with people with disabilities. Two years of experience in working with fiscal activities. Minimum QualificationHigh School diploma or equivalent and two (2) years of experience as a social or community coordinator andor social worker assistant. Any combination of education from an accredited college or university in a related field andor direct experience in this occupation totaling two (2) years may substitute for the required experience.
