Harlem Children's Zone (HCZ) - a world-renowned education and poverty-fighting organization based in New York - seeks an enthusiastic, dedicated, and mission-aligned volleyball Coach to support the Promise Academy After School program.
The Volleyball Coach will bring a passion for the mission of Harlem Children's Zone: break the cycle of intergenerational poverty with comprehensive, on-the-ground programming that builds up opportunities for children and families to thrive in school, work, and life.
The Volleyball Coach will join our Promise Academy After School program team that exposes students to a variety of fun-filled project-based learning, developmental, and high-caliber enrichment activities, which include athletics, arts enrichment (e.g., performing, culinary and visual arts), tutoring, homework help, and academic intervention support, as well as health/wellness and physical fitness education. The ideal candidate will develop all aspects of a high-quality Volleyball athletics program and provide scholars with effective leadership.

Minimum Qualifications
* High School or Equivalent or better.
Who you are
* A commitment to the mission and programs of HCZ
* Experience working with youth and adolescent population
* College degree and at least two years of coaching experience preferred
* Must have strong knowledge and a keen understanding of football
* Ensure the various athletics curriculums are structured and have clear learning goals
* Solid understanding of youth sports and safety guidelines
* Must be able to travel to away games or events
* Must have strong leadership and organizational skills, excellent writing and communication skills
* Positive, enthusiastic, collaborative, flexible, and approachable attitude
* Ability to effectively engage and motivate students
What you'll do
* Develop, implement, and execute the volleyball athletics curriculum
* Create a program that will include daily conditioning, fundamental drills, and a strategic playbook
* Communicate and work effectively with students, colleagues, and parents
* Monitor and report on student progress and performance both in the classroom and playing field
* Collaborate and consult with staff on student performance in various athletic activities and schoolwork
* Maintain ongoing communication with Athletics Program Director
* Develop positive relationships with students that promotes wellness, growth, respect, and self-esteem
* Act as a positive role model for students
* Perform other duties as assigned
Schedule
* Must be able to work 3 pm to 7 pm, Monday - Friday, and Saturdays 11 am to 1 pm
