Learn more about our work at www.pfva.org.Position Summary:Reporting to the Director of Development, the Volunteer Coordinator leads PathForward's volunteer program, overseeing recruitment, training, and engagement efforts to ensure a positive and meaningful experience for all participants. This role manages volunteers for both internal and external events, including third-party fundraisers, school walkathons, and PathForward gatherings like the client picnic and holiday party. The Volunteer Coordinator works to convert volunteers into long-term supporters and ensures appropriate volunteer coverage at all events. Additionally, the role collaborates with the development and communications teams to integrate volunteer activities into broader organizational efforts, including recognition programs and content development. The Coordinator also represents PathForward at community events.Key Responsibilities Manage PathForward's volunteer program under the guidance of the Director of Development, including recruitment, training, and retention efforts. Serve as the main point of contact for all volunteers, growing this essential program and working to convert volunteers into financial supporters. Ensure volunteer coverage at both internal and external events, including third-party fundraisers, school walkathons, and internal gatherings (e.g., client picnic, holiday party). Represent PathForward with Volunteer Arlington, fostering partnerships and coordinating opportunities. Plan and manage third-party fundraisers to support PathForward's mission. Act as a PathForward ambassador at community events (such as those where PathForward has a table or booth), engaging with attendees and fostering relationships. Maintain and update the Volgistics Volunteer Database to track volunteer engagement and hours. Oversee communication with PathForward's volunteer network to ensure timely and effective messaging. Train, schedule, and supervise volunteers for ongoing programs, including the Homeless Bagged Meal Program, Homeless Services Center, and Permanent Supportive Housing Program. Collaborate with the development team to implement a volunteer recognition plan, acknowledging volunteer contributions. Partner with the communications team to develop content highlighting volunteer efforts for newsletters and social media platforms. Manage and grow PathForward's school walkathons, ensuring annual budget goals are met. Perform other duties and projects as assigned.Supervisory Responsibilities:None.Qualifications and Skills Strong attention to detail and accuracy. Ability to accurately manage budgets. Must be a highly motivated self-starter with demonstrated ability to generate ideas, take initiative and execute tasks on time, using sound judgement. Ability to handle multiple tasks, and work under pressure while managing deadlines. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Excellent organizational skills. Strong interpersonal skills and a strong sense of teamwork. Proficient with technology and advanced PC skills in Microsoft Office, including Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.Experience and Education Requirements Bachelor's degree in communications, nonprofit administration, liberal arts, or related field. Minimum 2 years' experience in nonprofit setting.Physical Requirements: Weekends and evenings required. Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer. Works primarily in a sedentary environment, utilizing various means of technology. Occasionally required to lift up to 25 lbs.
