The Utah State Devlopmental Center (USDC) is looking for a Volunteer Coordinator to help support these functions.Principle Duties
  • Finding and coordinating volunteers to be used for activities and other events on campus.
  • Providing Weekly HIPAA training to youth church volunteers on Wednesday nights.
  • Be a point of contact between USDC and the USDC LDS ward.
  • Adhering to the code of conduct.
  • Assisting other Activity Technicians with duties (i.e. Help bring individuals to group activities, etc.)
  • Meeting with individuals in the apartment setting - this helps build trust with program leads, staff, etc. and increases visibility.
  • Coordinating other activities as needed.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Strong computer skills.
  • Time Management skills.
  • Clear communication skills.
  • Experience presenting information in a large group setting.
Preference may be given for the following
  • One or more years of full time, paid experience working with intellectually and devlopmentally disabled adults.

  • Acting as a resource to team members, participating in team and professional meetings and giving input as to the needs of clients.
  • Ensuring the safety and maintenance of physical areas and equipment used during therapy/treatment.
  • Developing appropriate safety and/or service plans to alleviate risk, provide protection, etc.
  • Inspecting facilities, machinery, equipment, systems, etc., to verify safety, maintenance, conditions, functions, and quality.
  • Detecting, eliminating or minimizing safety hazards.
  • Cleaning, and or disinfecting areas and/or equipment.
  • Ensuring confidentiality for the individuals by directing questions/requests to appropriate parties.

  • Identify developmental needs of others and coach, mentor, or otherwise help others to improve their knowledge, skills and abilities.
  • Deal with people in a manner which shows sensitivity, tact, and professionalism.
  • Speak clearly, concisely and effectively; listen to, and understand, information and ideas as presented verbally.
  • Appropriate use of equipment, facilities, and materials needed to perform a task.
  • Observe details at close range and at a distance.
  • Observe physical conditions, behavior or surroundings for potential areas of concern or inappropriate activity.
  • Hear sounds that may indicate potential areas of concern or inappropriate activity.
Supplemental Information
  • Work requires physical exertion. May require the ability to stand; walk over rough surfaces; bend, crouch, stoop, stretch, reach, lift moderately heavy items (up to 50 lbs.) in a recurring manner and/or for long periods of time.
  • Risks found in potentially dangerous or unusual environmental stress situations, e.g. being subject to possible physical attack; risks which require the use of special safety precautions, working with contagious diseases or hazardous chemicals, etc.
  • You must successfully pass a criminal history check.

  • Schedule: Part-time with no benefits(required to work 29 hours a week)
    • Sunday: 7:00-11:30am
    • Monday: 12:00-6:00pm
    • Tuesday: 12:00-7:00pm
    • Wednesday: 3:30-8:00pm
    • Thursday: 12:00-7:00pm (Occasional Friday and Saturday as needed, and some flexibility may be available.)
