Role Overview:

With hundreds of volunteers around L.A., our team has a solid process and working system to attract and recruit volunteers. And, as we scale to end our crisis of homelessness, we need thousands more engaged volunteers.

Our Volunteer Recruiters play a pivotal role in driving the mission of Better Angels forward by identifying, engaging, and recruiting dedicated individuals to support our efforts in combating homelessness. This role requires dynamic individuals who enjoy building relationships with other caring neighbors and are passionate about filling open roles. Our Volunteer Recruiters work closely with the Sr. Operations Manager to ensure that our volunteer base is diverse (in every dimension), enthusiastic, and aligned with our mission.

Some Key Tasks You Might Do
  • Recruitment Strategy Development:
  • Develop and implement recruitment strategies to attract volunteers from various backgrounds.
  • Identify and leverage different channels for volunteer recruitment, including social media, community events, and partnerships with local organizations.
  • Volunteer Recruitment:
  • Create compelling and accurate descriptions for volunteer roles and opportunities.
  • Screen and interview potential volunteers to ensure a good fit for each need.
  • Outreach and Engagement:
  • Conduct outreach activities to engage potential volunteers and raise awareness about the organization's mission.
  • Attend community events, job fairs, and networking functions to represent Better Angels and promote volunteer opportunities.

Helpful Experience and Desired Skills

  • Experience in recruitment, community outreach, or a related field is preferred.
  • Strong passion for addressing homelessness and a commitment to social justice.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to engage and motivate diverse groups of people.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and experience with volunteer management systems or volunteer management software is a plus.
