The Volunteer Host is responsible for creating a fun experience for diverse volunteer groups of all sizes. This role is responsible for delivering the ultimate fun volunteer experience by proactively welcoming volunteers, creatively engaging volunteers throughout the volunteer project, and providing excellent customer service in a fast-paced environment. This position leads and supports diverse groups of volunteers of all sizes, including presenting to groups of up to 1,000 volunteers.Adhere to PACT values. Transparency: Doing things openly and honestly).ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:Welcome and Orientation of VolunteersProactively greets and welcomes volunteers with warmth and enthusiasm, ensuring they feel like valued guests from the moment they arrive.Conducts engaging and fun orientation sessions for large groups of volunteers (up to 1,000), setting the stage for a fun volunteer experience.Presentation and EngagementLeads volunteer groups through their projects with a fun and entertaining approach, maintaining high energy and enthusiasm.Uses storytelling, and fun interactive activities, to keep volunteers motivated and excited throughout their shift.Customer Service Excellence:Provides exceptional customer service, addresses volunteer questions and concerns with a smile and ensures every volunteer has a positive impactful experience.Ensures every volunteer feels supported, appreciated, and inspired, creating a smooth and enjoyable experience resulting in them returning to volunteer and getting more involved with the Houston Food Bank.Safety and Efficiency:Oversees volunteer activities, ensuring adherence to safety protocols and efficient project execution.Manage volunteer group coordination seamlessly, including last-minute changes and special events, like a well-orchestrated show.Collaboration and Coordination:Works closely with team members to maintain a clean, organized, and well-supplied project areaParticipates in team meetings to share insights and continuously enhance the volunteer experience.Quality Control and Maintenance:Inspects finished products for quality assurance, ensuring everything meets the highest standards.Keeps project areas pristine and reports any equipment issues promptly.Reliable, consistent, on-site attendance is a requirement. This position requires punctuality and dependable attendance to meet the needs of the business, including attending and participating in meetings and presentations.SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:This position has no supervisory responsibilities.QUALIFICATIONS:Education/Experience:High School Diploma from an accredited school or general education development (GED) certificate. Some college or bachelor's degrees preferred1+ years of public speaking experience2 years of in-person hospitality, tour guide, activities coordinator, or event coordinating experienceVolunteer experience preferredBilingual preferred (English/Spanish)Certificates, Licenses, and Registrations:Must have reliable transportation, a valid driver's license, and insurance.Must be able and willing to operate an electric pallet jackSpecial Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential function satisfactorily.
