Job Posting: Volunteer Ice Hockey Coach
Season: December 2024 - March 2025
Regional School District No. 1 is seeking a passionate and dedicated Volunteer Ice Hockey Coach to join our athletic program for the 2024/2025 season. This is an exciting opportunity to make a positive impact on student-athletes by promoting skill development, teamwork, and sportsmanship.
Responsibilities:
* Plan, organize, and conduct practices and games in alignment with school and league standards.
* Provide instruction to improve players' skills, strategies, and overall performance.
* Foster a positive and inclusive team environment.
* Ensure the safety and well-being of student-athletes during all activities.
* Collaborate with school staff, parents, and athletic administrators as needed.
Qualifications:
* Must meet the qualifications and requirements for coaching as outlined by the State of Connecticut, including:
* Completion of an approved coaching certification program (or proof of eligibility for a coaching permit).
* Valid CPR/First Aid certification.
* Successful completion of mandatory training, including concussion management and child abuse prevention.
* Previous experience coaching or playing ice hockey preferred.
* Strong communication and leadership skills.
Physical Requirements:
* Ability to actively move around the rink, demonstrating drills and coaching from the sidelines
* Endurance to remain on your feet for extended periods during practices and games
* Occasional lifting of equipment up to 30 pounds
* Clear communication and ability to project voice across the court
