MISSION: It is the mission of the South Carolina Department of Juvenile Justice (DJJ) to impact and transform young lives, strengthen families, and support safer communities through targeted prevention and rehabilitation.JOB PURPOSE:Under limited supervision, this position manages the Volunteer Services Program for the agency and is responsible for the development, implementation, coordination, and expansion of volunteer services state-wide. Supervises all volunteer services staff and agency volunteers. Promotes and facilitates the recruitment, processing, training, and recognition of volunteers. Is responsible for the administration, design, and implementation of the Volunteer Database. Maintains volunteer services policies, procedures, and processes. Note: The Term Volunteer includes all levels of volunteerism, mentors, and interns.JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:Manages the recruitment and processing of agency volunteers.Serves as a liaison between volunteers and DJJ management.Provides direct supervision to the Volunteer Services staff.Provides oversight, supervision, and training to the agency's volunteers.Responsible for the overall management and implementation of the Volunteer Services Database.Develops processes to track, maintain, and disseminate statistical information on volunteers and volunteer's services monthly and as requested.Responsible for the agency's volunteer recognition efforts, and for the internal and external promotional campaigns designed to recruit and promote volunteerism agency wide.Performs other related duties as required or directed to support the division or the agency. Minimum and Additional RequirementsSTATE MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:A bachelor's degree and relevant program experience.ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:Ability to manage multiple and competing priorities.Proficient in the use of computer systems and various software to include, but not limited to MS Office and data management systems.Excellent organizational management skills.Ability to exercise sound judgment and discretion when dealing with sensitive issues.Excellent verbal and written communication skills.Works under limited supervision by the Director of Community Engagement.Annually scheduled performance reviews.This position performs job duties relating to the custody, control, transportation, or recapture of youth within the jurisdiction of the Department of Juvenile Justice, and the employee may have direct and indirect contact with youth within the jurisdiction of the Department of Juvenile Justice. Training applicable to these duties will be provided.Flexibility to work some evenings and weekends is required. Preferred QualificationsPREFERRED AGENCY REQUIREMENTS:A bachelor's degree in Public Relations, Business Administration, Behavioral Science or other human services field from an accredited institution; 2-3 years of experience in working with volunteers, mentors and/or interns within an organization, school, or faith-based entity.
