Salary: $0.00 Hourly Location : Orange County Superior Court, CA Job Type: Volunteer/Intern Job Number: IN-V-0823-Ambassador Department: All Locations Opening Date: 08/24/2023 Closing Date: Continuous Position Information The Superior Court is accepting volunteer applications for those interested in becoming a SUPERIOR COURT AMBASSADORCOURT AMBASSADOR PROGRAM The Orange County Superior Court serves 3.2 million residents in the third most populated county in the State of California. As the 6th largest court in the nation the Orange County Superior Court hosts hundreds of visitors every year. The ambassador program is designed to help these visitors gain a greater understanding and appreciation of the work of the Court, its history, and the art, and architecture of the building. Opportunity DetailsAMBASSADOR RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:
  • Leading court tours on the functions, history, art, and architecture of the Court; leading tours for VIP guests, foreign visitors, and other groups; greeting and leading large groups through the building
  • Presenting accurate information on the functions and history of the court and the art and architecture of the building.

Minimum QualificationsREQUIREMENTS Volunteers are expected to do a minimum of two unpaid, 3-hour shifts per year during regular business hours. The Superior Court is open from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday and closed on weekends and federal holidays. Volunteers must pass a security clearance/background check and attend training. DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS
  • Interest in serving the public.
  • Ability to learn accurate, detailed information and present it effectively to diverse audiences.
  • Courtesy, respect, and patience with visitors.
  • Ability to walk and stand for long periods of time. Ability to walk upstairs.
  • Comfortable speaking to groups of any size and of all ages and backgrounds.
  • Good oral communication skills; clear and strong speaking voice.
  • Professional manner and neat appearance.
  • Knowledge of ASL or foreign languages is helpful, but not mandatory.
  • Ability to maintain an attitude of flexibility, professionalism and respect in all relationships with visitors, staff, and peers.
TRAINING Individuals accepted into the program must undergo 1 hour of mandatory training, which will be provided as needed by the Community Engagement Office. Sessions will provide instruction on the judicial functions of the Superior Court and the art, architecture, and history of Court Buildings. Additionally, new volunteers will receive training on the skills and responsibilities of Ambassadors, including presentation techniques, tips for working with visitors, and program policies. During the first three months of service, new Ambassadors will work closely with experienced volunteers and will continue to receive on the job training as needed. 06 Guidelines and Provision: If accepted as a volunteer, I understand that I will not be reimbursed for any unauthorized mileage or out-of pocket expenses. As a volunteer, I am not an employee of the Court; I understand that I am not covered by the Court's Memorandum of Understanding. I understand that State law requires that I must possess valid automobile/liability insurance and agree to have such coverage if I am involved in using my own vehicle for Court business. It is also my understanding that a criminal record check is conducted on all volunteers, and the results of such check is used for the sole purpose of evaluating the suitability to access Court files, confidential information.

07 I understand that the Court and its officers, employees and agents shall not be held liable for any death, injury or property damage claims arising from volunteer work. I also understand that if any claim arises out of the foregoing, the volunteer shall defend, indemnify and hold harmless the Orange County Superior Court and its judges, commissioners, employees and agents from the same.
