The Opportunity: As a Voter Protection Associate, you will build a robust network of volunteer attorneys and advocates who will serve as poll observers, phone bankers, and hotline and ballot cure volunteers. You will be responsible for recruitment, engagement, and retention of volunteers. As a member of our Voter Protection team, you will help execute a ground game that ensures that every eligible Wisconsin voter's voice gets heard in the general election and, in doing so, helps elect Democrats up and down the ticket by growing the strongest voter protection infrastructure Wisconsin has ever had.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Build on the success and foundation we created in recent cycles to keep growing our robust team of volunteer attorneys and advocates who will serve as County Liaisons, Poll Observers, Poll Workers, and Voter Assistance Hotline volunteers.
  • Implement grassroots field tactics, including managing and executing effective activities such as phone banks, volunteer training, and one-on-one meetings.
  • Use independent creativity and judgment to keep our core team of volunteers engaged and active in seeking to implement our programmatic goals.
  • Build long-term relationships with volunteers and empower them to take the initiative to strengthen democracy in their communities.
  • Utilize consistent and diverse outreach methods to reach new and existing volunteers, including phone calls, text banking, social media, and community networking.
  • Assist Deputy Voter Protection Director with special projects and strategic planning as necessary.
  • Help manage the teams volunteer data using VoteBuilder/VAN and LBJ.
  • On-year requirements include working outside of normal work hours; including canvassing and other election preparation as necessary.

  • Democratic Values - Desire to fight for Democratic Values and candidates, up and down the ballot.

Qualifications (Preferred):

  • Demonstrated ability to stand up large-scale, diverse volunteer organizations that effectively deliver results by motivating and holding volunteers accountable for their goals. Adept at using data to inform strategy development, monitor progress to goal, and report on and analyze outcomes, including familiarity with VAN/Votebuilder, Excel, and other tools.
  • Must demonstrate commitment to and understanding of the unique challenges of voter protection.
  • Applicants should have access to reliable transportation and be willing to travel frequently.
