The VP, Business Applications (Debt & Equity) will be responsible for overseeing and managing the systems, data sources, and applications utilized by the Portfolio Management, Asset Management, and Originations teams. This role requires close collaboration with investment professionals and various stakeholders across the firm to support and enhance the end-to-end operational workflow of debt and equity deals. Additionally, the role involves working with cross-functional teams to streamline data from both internal and third-party sources, ensuring data quality and reliability.

This role will work closely with internal IT leadership, representatives from originations, portfolio management, and asset management teams, as well as external vendors, to develop and execute the company's technology roadmap. This position provides management with analysis and recommendations to improve and expand applications, system integration, and application performance in support of the company's strategic business and technology plans. The ideal candidate will have experience and passion for data and asset reporting solutions across multiple departments.

The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in managing business applications within the real estate sector, particularly for originations, asset management, and portfolio management teams. They will be passionate about leveraging technology to optimize processes and drive valuable outcomes from pipeline to portfolio insights. This individual will be adept at collaborating with cross-functional teams and ensuring data quality and reliability.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and execute a comprehensive business application strategy for portfolio operations.
  • Oversee the administration and optimization of equity and debt asset management and portfolio management applications.
  • Standardize and systemize the operational models for debt and equity deals.
  • Streamline data from internal and third-party sources, including servicers, borrowers, and sponsors.
  • Spearhead cross-functional initiatives relating to the deal workflow.
  • Provide ongoing support to business teams to ensure the maintenance of data quality and reliability.
  • Lead cross-functional teams to design, develop, and implement technology solutions that enhance operational efficiency and decision-making.
  • Oversee the management of the application portfolio, ensuring it meets the evolving needs of the business and adheres to industry best practices.
  • Collaborate with senior leadership to align technology initiatives with business goals and objectives.
  • Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • Identify, engage, and manage outside partners/vendors to provide services in support of operations of systems and technology services, and for projects for technology initiatives and in support of business processes.
  • Supervise a team of business analysts who support implementations and solutions for the business line.
  • Qualifications:

  • A minimum of 8 years of experience in a leadership role within business applications or technology management, preferably in the real estate or financial services industry.
  • Advanced knowledge of managing relational databases (SQL or similar), data governance strategies and data integration technologies (ETL, SOAP/REST API, etc.).
  • A Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field is highly preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of debt asset management applications, including but not limited to Backshop, RealINSIGHT, Pereview, Chatham, REBA, Dealpath, and Argus.
  • Proven track record of successfully implementing technology solutions in support of business objectives.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and influence stakeholders at all levels.
