Primary DetailsTime Type: Full timeWorker Type: EmployeeThe Opportunity: The North America Data Organization is responsible for developing and implementing organizational data strategy, leading data and analytics capabilities to enable better business outcomes, and driving productization and innovation of data usage across QBE NA. The team ensures that QBE NA leverages data as driver for business value enablement through effective collaboration across our business and functional teams. The VP, Business Data Strategy Leader will lead a team of experts embedded across QBE NA's business and functional units, and will be responsible for translating strategic priorities across each area into corresponding data strategies to enable achievement of desired outcomes. This leader will partner with business and functional leaders across the Division, and will ensure prioritization and alignment of all data-driven initiatives to QBE NA's strategic business objectives. This role will report directly to QBE NA's Head of Data, and will be a member of the NA Data Leadership Team.Location:New York City (55 Water Street, NYC), Atlanta, GAWork Arrangement:This role is hybrid, where you will be expected to be in the office 2-3 days per week The starting salaryfor this role is between $148,000 and $278,000Your new role
  • Understand and translate business and functional strategies into corresponding data strategies - serving as a key thought partner for the NA Head of Data to ensure data strategy is positioned as an enabler of business strategy
  • Partner closely with business and functional leadership to ensure that data-driven deliverables are aligned to business value, owning prioritization of workstreams and serving as a single point of contact for data-related needs. Owns and continuously optimizes the business engagement model for data solutions delivery
  • Influence NAO's data roadmap by ensuring customer-centric approach (re: internal and external customers) to data capabilities development and enhancement
  • High degree of collaboration to understand business use cases, requirements and pain points to co-create data-driven solutions with business and functional teams
  • Work collaboratively across the NA Data Leadership Team to ensure effective and nimble design and delivery of data-driven solutions along critical business value streams
  • Apply deep insurance industry experience and business operations expertise to drive a culture of re-use and scalability across the data solutions portfolio
  • Co-lead (along with Data Product leadership) QBRs and MBRs for business and functional leadership to ensure success of the data solutions delivery program
  • Lead efforts to define business value KPIs and SLAs to ensure accountability and success across business and functional data initiatives
  • Build, develop and maintain strategic relationships across Divisional leadership
  • Organize, engage and lead a team of embedded data experts who have vast business and functional knowledge and experience. Actively contribute to a culture of continuous learning by proactively identifying and evangelizing best practices
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent combination of education and work experience
  • 10+ years relevant experience
Preferred Work Experience:
  • Exceptional stakeholder management and communication skills; able to demonstrate executive presence and lead through influence across all levels of the organization
  • Ability to translate strategic objectives from across Divisional business and functional teams in support of a comprehensive data strategy
  • Extensive executive-level, insurance industry experience across key functional areas (e.g., underwriting, claims, policy administration, compliance, operational/project delivery, client & agent servicing, policy accounting)
  • Top 5 brokerage experience preferred (Marsh, Aon, Gallagher, WTW, Hub International) - preferably across digital, big data and analytics enablement streams
  • Significant BPM, BPO, shared services, or financial services leadership experience, having led onshore and offshore engagements. Adept at leading change management and transformational initiatives
  • Comfortable with ambiguity and uncertainty
  • Project Management skills (project planning and tracking; issue identification and management; project status reporting)
  • Business process analysis skills - ability to analyze and document current processes for creation, management and use of client data
Compensation Package: The salary range for this role is provided above. This is the national range for location(s) listed. The salary offer will be decided based on the role's complexity, its location, and the candidate's professional background, including their education and experience. Beyond the base salary, regular full-time and part-time employees will also be eligible for QBE's annual discretionary bonus plan based on business and individual performance.
