About CPC Climate Capital:
CPC Climate Capital is a new subsidiary of The Community Preservation Corporation and will be a subrecipient of Climate United Fund, the recipient of a $6.97 billion grant from the National Clean Investment Fund established by the federal government as part of the Inflation Reduction Act (IRA). CPC Climate Capital will use its subaward of approximately $2.4 billion to decarbonize multifamily housing by making subordinate debt financing available to owners of multifamily housing nationally. These investments will reduce or eliminate on-site fossil fuels, thereby reducing greenhouse gas emissions. Our climate goals will be simultaneously delivered against other critical national priorities, including the creation and preservation of affordable housing, promoting equity and environmental justice, and supporting high-quality jobs.

Role Summary:
CPC Climate Capital is recruiting a Controller, to join our growing Finance team. As the lead Controller, you will be responsible for directing the accounting and finance functions of Climate Capital in coordination with CPC. You will establish and maintain accounting principles, practices, procedures, and initiatives. You will be responsible for the prospective implementation, development and maintenance of effective accounting systems, preparation of financial statements, financial analyses around performance, specifically regarding revenue and expenses. You will help lead the Finance team and provide management and leadership to a team of accounting professionals and help drive best practices for Climate Capital organization.
What You'll do:
* Provide decision making support and input to business on the financial impact of transactions, based on the interpretation of accounting, regulatory and tax regulations, and an understanding of the revenue and cost dynamics of the business.
* Oversee all accounts, ledgers, and reporting systems ensuring compliance with appropriate GAAP standards and regulatory requirements.
* Work with the FP&A team to support the creation of financial plans and forecasts, including long term strategic plans.
* Ensure the integrity of the financial process and the accuracy of financial statements, tax and regulatory reports, and management performance reports.
* Manage a controlled environment in compliance with internal accounting procedures and external regulatory requirements.
* Issue timely and complete financial statements.
* Develop and maintain a documented system of internal controls to ensure financial records are accurate and reliable.
* Work with the Finance team to adapt and improve controls in response to changing conditions.
* Coordinate and oversee the activities of external auditors and manage annual financial audits.
* Responsible, where appropriate for maintaining all investor reporting related to CPC's public S&P rating and supporting the CFO and CPC Climate Capital Executive Leader in all capital raising efforts.
* Work closely with leaders across the operations platform to ensure transactions are processed accurately and systems can support continued business growth.
* Coordinate with the finance functions across CPC to ensure Climate Capital information and transactions align with CPC activities and requirements and support CPC reporting needs.
Skills and Experience:
* BA/BS in Accounting, CPA certification required.
* Minimum of 10 years' experience in accounting including prior experience as a Controller in a Financial Services institution or Manager level experience at a Public Accounting firm.
* Minimum of 5 years' experience managing financial reporting processes.
* Comprehensive knowledge and proficiency in US accounting rules and regulations.
* Strong leadership, management and advanced financial project management skills.
* Highly developed consultative and relationship management skills.
* Mortgage banking or Real Estate Development, lending and public accounting experience preferred.
* Government grant experience preferred but not required

This is a hybrid role that can be based in either NYC and would work out of our Manhattan office 2 - 3 days a week or remote in Washington DC and will need to periodically travel to our Manhattan office. The salary range is $185,000 - $210,000, dependent on experience.
