About the Role The VP Engineering Application will lead a team of skilled engineers in technical expertise and team management. The primary focus will be prioritizing short-term and long-term development goals, optimizing technical operations for efficiency, and driving the evolution of our customer-facing applications. Collaboration with product and commercial leadership is crucial to ensure alignment between product and engineering teams, transparent communication, and on-time delivery of key initiatives. This role requires extensive experience in technology leadership and a deep understanding of advertising technology industry trends. What you'll be doing:
- Team Management and Leadership. Lead, manage, and develop software engineering leaders and in-house and outsourced engineering teams. Recruit, onboard, and retain skilled talent. Establish objectives and effectively communicate priorities. Set performance expectations, provide timely feedback, conduct performance reviews, and support individual goals and career growth.
- Strategic Industry Leadership. Stay abreast of industry trends and emerging technologies to ensure the company remains at the forefront of technological innovation. Provide strategic input based on a deep understanding of the ad-tech market.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration. Collaborate with commercial and product leadership to shape the product roadmap strategically and tactically. Facilitate effective communication and collaboration across teams.
- Operational Effectiveness. Foster a culture of strong engineering design, delivery, and quality. Ensure projects are completed on time, within scope, and to the highest quality standards. Monitor and enhance key engineering metrics. Ensure financial resources are used effectively. Identify and prioritize technical debt for retirement.
A successful candidate will have:
- 10+ years of experience in software engineering with at least 5 years in senior leadership roles leading teams in designing and delivering scalable, high-performance customer-facing ad-tech applications.
- Proven ability to collaborate with and align commercial and product teams.
- Proficiency in optimizing technical operations, addressing technical debt, and improving efficiency.
- Demonstrate ability to develop and execute strategic plans that align with the business objectives and drive long-term growth.
- Experience in managing and developing software engineering leaders and teams, including recruitment, onboarding, performance management, and career growth opportunities.
- Solid technical background with hands-on experience in software development, architecture, and design. Familiar with modern development methodologies and best practices.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to make data-driven decisions to optimize technical operations for efficiency.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
Location: Boulder, Colorado or New York City, New York - Candidates must currently live in, or are willing to relocate to the Boulder/Denver or New York area. In addition to the base salary, the total compensation package includes bonus, equity, and benefits. Actual earnings may vary depending on the candidate's direct experience, skills, industry knowledge, and location.
