Major Not For Profit Organization located in New York City is currently seeking a qualified individual for their expanding finance department.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Provide leadership and direction for the financial reporting, establish strong working relationships with financial leadership and managers across the organization and key personnel of interfacing departments.Ensure the timely and accurate completion of all monthly financial statements and reporting of financial operations for senior leadership and provide insight and perspective on analysis of financial statements and the interpretation of results; communicate this information to senior leadership and others, as required.Develop new reports and procedures to meet reporting requirements and to evaluate the plan's performance against budget.Represent the Corporate Office in the review of monthly financial results of operating divisions and affiliated companies at Board meetings, as appropriate.Assist in the development of short- and long-term cash goals and plans.Provide leadership on FASB/GAAP/SAP and other technical matters related to reporting standards; ensure compliance with all applicable laws and organizational requirements; recommend and implement policies/procedures based on new standards and best practices.Work closely with the Corporate VP of Finance to plan and execute the year-end close, including direct interaction with external auditors.Work closely with the Finance Department of operations; collaborate with others on new program development (e.g., business planning, due diligence, and feasibility studies).Manage all projects using a systematic approach that incorporates change management and quality principles and translates plans into deliverables, with measurable outcomes, on a timely and cost-effective basis.Successfully manage the department's performance, as measured by specific performance indicators for financial reporting. Ensure accuracy and timeliness of work deliverables. Collaborate with directors and their staff to resolve issues through excellent problem-solving and decision-making skills.Manage, develop, and mentor the department's personnel; build and sustain a highly capable and engaged team that is empowered to carry out its responsibilities, while fostering a team-centered culture that is wholly consistent with that of the organization. Develop and implement a departmental succession plan.Participate in new and ongoing improvement efforts and workflows related to applications and technology. Play a lead role in the planning for and conversion of various financial systems and processes.Continuously improve processes and automate manual tasks; develop and implement methods to make operations more effective and efficient.Prepare department budgets and oversee to ensure that targets are met; implement changes necessary to meet budget objectives.The ideal candidate should have a Bachelor's degree and 5+ years of progressive accounting experience in CITY/STATE agency funding.
