Job Description:
The Vice President of Operations leads Company's data acquisition department. With a team of over 300 people in four countries, this department is the key to keeping our customers informed and up-to-date, collecting data for a variety of media platforms such as websites, e-newsletters, magazines, newspapers, and television, at a volume of approximately 500,000 ads per day. The VP of Operations is responsible for ensuring that the company's tremendous data needs are met - today, and in the future.To accomplish this, the VP of Operations must combine exceptional process management and people leadership skills. Both will be required to successfully develop standards and practices for assembling and managing the data in the most accurate and cost-effective ways, and for hiring and training the staff to carry out those practices and ensuring that the standards of timeliness and quality are met consistently.The company's data needs continue to change as the company grows. The VP of Operations must lead the process of forecasting and anticipating the changes in the data needs. Excellent analytical skills, plus out-of-the-box problem solving are a must.As the leader of a mission-critical part of the business, the VP of Operations will play a very active role in the senior management decision-making process, helping to guide the company in its rapid growth.Essential duties and responsibilities:-Continuously monitor quality metrics and acceptable standards for company data; coordinate with all other departments to gain company-wide acceptance.-Recruit, hire and train for appropriate staffing levels to meet department objectives.-Manage Operations budget and unit cost to drive operational efficiencies and continuous improvements.-Actively develop junior and mid-level managers-Maintain an excellent working knowledge and a high level of proficiency in the performance of all phases of operations, including all policy & process documentation, internal data systems, and quality standards.-Meet targets for turnaround times, quality metrics, and cost.-Measure data timeliness, completeness and accuracy to determine whether quality and throughput standards are being met. -Evaluate and engage outside vendors to meet departmental objectives.-Forecast data needs and departmental readiness on an ongoing basis (current metrics are daily, weekly, monthly, and annually).-Integrate new data requirements into existing processes-Actively partner with key stakeholders, typically in senior management positions in product development and client services in order to develop, implement, and execute on key metrics and company initiatives.-Explore and evaluate new methods and technologies for data collection to improve departmental performance and cost efficiency and to keep Company at the forefront of the industry. High degree of comfort with math and spreadsheets, and the ability to create accurate models of both processes and budgets are all essential.Excellent communication skills, written and spoken, are a must.
