Location: Port Washington, NY

Position Overview: Reporting to the CFO, The Vice President of Operations, will be responsible for leading and developing the entire supply chain and operations team, leveraging best in class experience and industry proven processes. Specializing in inventory and planning management within the wine and spirits industry, this role will lead the monthly Sales & Operations Planning (S&OP) process and will be the key resource for all demand-related issues including creating and maintaining an accurate and achievable consensus demand plan for our wine and spirits portfolio(s).

Responsibilities/Essential Functions:

Overall

  • Develop Operations Team through redefining departmental KPIs that align with strategic company goals and ultimately increase team member accountability through quantifiable metrics.
  • Ensure the right end-to-end Operations planning strategies, processes, sales and inventory are in place to support business and customer needs.
  • Evaluate and recommend process improvements and implement best practices to maximize team efficiency.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant laws, regulations, and industry standards.

Inventory Management

  • Evaluate the DI vs domestic shipment impacts to evaluate total pipeline inventory positions.
  • Optimize total inventory levels based on needs while considering supplier/distributor contractual obligations.
  • Reduce owned inventory position through direct import shipment expansion.
  • Review and manage aged and unsaleable inventory by item by inventory location.
  • Monitor wholesaler inventory positions to generate shipment/purchase proposals to achieve ideal days on hand.
  • Collaboratively build execution models with our Brand Excellence Teams to ensure supplier sensitivities are accounted for when rebalancing total inventory.

Planning

  • Manage the global S&OP demand process for all products in collaboration with internal cross functional partners.
  • Create, utilize, maintain, and refine planning models to create statistical demand forecasts.
  • Partner with Sales and Marketing to understand historical sales, market trends, seasonality, product mix, programming, and other factors which influence the forecast.
  • Compile and validate monthly demand data to evaluate gaps between forecasted and actual sales.
  • Prepare all forecasting data and metrics for demand-related meetings including inventory level impacts (wholesaler and owned).
  • Logistics
  • Monitor and manage logistics budgets, ensuring adherence to financial targets.
  • Analyze logistics costs, identify cost-saving opportunities, and implement strategies to optimize expenses.
  • Review reports on logistics performance, including lead times, transportation costs, and inventory levels and make recommendations for improvement.
  • Collaborate with finance teams to align logistics data and provide insights to senior management regarding logistics efficiency, bottlenecks, and areas for improvement.
  • Stay informed about shipping carriers, routes, and rate changes.

Qualifications/Requirements:

  • Bachelors degree required; degree in Supply Chain Management or logistics preferred.
  • 10+ years of operations, freight forwarder or 3PL provider experience, in positions with increasing responsibility.
  • 7+ years of experience in the wine/spirits industry required.
  • Knowledge of inventory management software (e.g. ERP) required.
  • Experience with successful ERP implementation a plus.
  • Proven ability to plan and organize workload and work within tight deadlines, while flourishing in a team-oriented environment.
  • Ability to assimilate and process data from a wide range of sources.
  • Knowledge of distribution channels required.
  • Expert knowledge of data analysis and forecasting methods.
  • Excellent oral & written communication skills.
