This position is accountable for the day-to-day operation of the site nursing units and for developing and implementing nursing strategy and corporate policies at the site to ensure quality patient care and that patient expectations are met or exceeded. Develops and implements site specific patient-focused management programs, nursing practice guidelines, nursing quality indicators, nursing research-based practices, and clinical pathways. Oversees the integration of the care delivery system at the site so that patient care needs are met within financial, and other accreditation and regulatory guidelines.

Minimum or Preferred Qualifications
Master's degree in nursing, or related field required. Extensive knowledge and application of nursing/patient care regulations including, NYSDOH, Medicare/Medicaid, and government regulations; nursing practice, trends, technological changes, processes, and standards of care. In-depth understanding of models for care delivery, clinical protocols and pathways and how these elements are aligned to maximize patient care outcomes. Thorough understanding of financial fundamentals of health care so as to effectively recommend improvements in patient care procedures that are cost effective and market sensitive. Ability to analyze, assess and articulate effective decisions; demonstrates support for and models teamwork as both leader and member. 10 years of prior clinical management experience in an acute care setting at the Director level that demonstrated the ability to balance quality with cost management. Proven ability to work effectively with physicians, community and other constituents throughout the system. Requires a track record of nursing care excellence and a history of driving change. A documented background of strong management decision making coupled with strong communication skills, a focus on physician/patient satisfaction and a working relationship with organized labor required. RN license required upon hire.
