Job Description:

This position will assist with administrative duties and testing support.

Job Responsibilities:

  • 40% - Assist in the coordination and implementation of appropriate academic support services and accommodations under the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973, as well as other federal guidelines and any related university policies and procedures. Assist the office and the university in developing and updating policies, procedures, and informational materials related to students with disabilities. Input of student information and accommodations into the system database.
  • 40% - Coordinate and administer the DS examination program. The WAE is responsible for accurately processing Examination Request Forms for students scheduled to take DS exams. This includes intake of Examination Request Form, data entry into the testing database, scheduling of proctors, readers, and scribes, contacting professors/instructors, scheduling examination location, delivery of exams, and filing forms.
  • 20% - Assists in the front office operation (as needed), including answering the telephone, processing incoming and outgoing faxes, coordinating accommodation and testing, and coordinating appointments with students and coordinators. Assists with special office projects as needed and assigned.
  • Minimum Qualifications:

    • High school diploma

    Preferred Qualifications:

    • Bachelor's degree

    Other Requirements/Expectations:

    As with all LSU employees, due to this position title and/or responsibilities, this position has an obligation to assist students in the acquisition of necessary services. Should a student appear in need of or seek assistance with issues of an emotional, behavioral, or mental health related matter they should be referred to the proper service within the Student Health Center. In situations where the student creates an impression that they are a danger to themselves or others, the advisor should immediately contact the Care Team, the Dean of Students or the appropriate law enforcement agency. The employee outside of those rights contained within FERPA should create no impression of client or patient confidentiality.
