The Position:We are seeking a part-time bilingual Waiting Room Attendant for our Palmdale. The Waiting Room Attendant is primarily responsible for maintaining order in the waiting room and engaging the children in positive interactions and appropriate tasks.What You'll Do:
  • Ensures the safety of all children who are at the Center and temporarily unattended by their parents. Ensures that children do not stand or kneel on any furnishings. Immediately, wipes up all spills and calls maintenance for assistance when needed.
  • Ensures that unattended children remain in the waiting room and are not exploring the halls, stairs, or parking lot. This may be coordinated with the Security Attendant, if needed.
  • Supervises play and art activities of the children and intervenes in any potentially dangerous play or inappropriate language between other children or adults in the waiting room. Each week will have an art project scheduled for children in the waiting room. Ensures the confidentiality of all clients at all times.
  • Brings to the attention of the assigned therapist or Administrative Lead/Supervisor, any information about the child's behavior that was inappropriate or that needs immediate attention.
  • Organizes all materials in the waiting room throughout the day/evening. Checks for inappropriate reading/viewing materials, placing toys, art material in appropriate place/configuration. Coordinates projects for the waiting room bulletin board. Upon leaving, the waiting room is to be neat and organized. Stores all materials in appropriate storage area.
  • Assists with checking in clients and guests in the evening and walking clients to therapy rooms, if needed.
  • Other responsibilities as assigned.
  • Part-time, Hours: Monday - Thursday, 3:00pm - 8:00pm
  • Starting Salary: $17.00
  • Fully onsite
Qualifications
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish required.
  • Experience working with children and families in a medical, mental health, or developmental center preferred.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, clearly, and concisely in an oral and written manner.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.
  • Must have a good sense of judgment as pertaining to the position.
  • Ability to complete projects and reports in a timely manner
  • Must be able to maintain confidentiality
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required, Some college preferred.
