Position Overview

The Warehouse Associate is responsible for various tasks to support the warehouse operations, including receiving, storing, and distributing products within the warehouse. The associate ensures that inventory is accurately recorded and maintained, orders are processed and fulfilled efficiently, and the warehouse remains clean and organized.

This position reports to the Warehouse Supervisor.

Job Duties to include but not limited to:

  • Receiving and Inspection:
    • Unload and inspect incoming shipments for accuracy and quality.
    • Verify the contents of shipments against purchase orders and packing lists.
    • Report any discrepancies or damaged items to the Warehouse Supervisor.
  • Inventory Management:
    • Organize and store products in designated locations.
    • Conduct regular inventory counts and update records.
    • Assist in maintaining accurate inventory levels by reporting low stock or discrepancies.
    • Responsible for performing cycle counting and FIFO stocking of the inventory.
  • Order Fulfillment:
    • Pick and pack orders accurately according to order specifications.
    • Prepare orders for shipment, ensuring proper labeling and packaging.
    • Load and unload delivery trucks as needed.
  • Equipment Operation:
    • Operate warehouse equipment, such as forklifts, pallet jacks, and hand trucks safely and efficiently.
    • Perform routine maintenance and safety checks on equipment.
  • Warehouse Maintenance:
    • Maintain a clean and organized warehouse environment.
    • Dispose of waste materials and recycling according to company policies.
    • Ensure that aisles, loading docks, and other work areas are clear of obstructions.
  • Safety and Compliance:
    • Adhere to all safety guidelines and protocols to ensure a safe working environment.
    • Comply with company policies and procedures, as well as regulatory requirements.
    • Participate in safety training and report any safety concerns to the Warehouse Supervisor.
    • Comply with the rules and regulations set forth in Promise Confections/site handbook; participate in regular training to comply with all Good Manufacturing Practices, Safe Quality Foods initiatives, and HACCP program.
    • It is the duty and responsibility of ALL Seattle Gourmet Foods staff to report any food safety issues IMMEDIATELY to their supervisor.
  • Qualifications

    • Ability to read and speak English fluently and communicate complex ideas in a clear and concise manner.
    • Ability to communicate issues with warehouse and quality employees
    • Ability to perform simple mathematics.
    • Ability to apply common sense understanding to determine the best course of action needed to resolve warehousing and shipping issues in a timely, efficient manner.
    • Strong commitment to Safety.
    • High school diploma or equivalent.
    • Previous warehouse or logistics experience is preferred.
    • Ability to operate warehouse equipment (forklift certification training will be provided).
    • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
    • Good physical condition and the ability to lift and move heavy items.
    • Basic computer skills for inventory management and order processing.
    • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
    • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and manage multiple priorities effectively.

    Opportunities for Advancement

    With experience and additional training, Warehouse Associates may advance to roles such as Warehouse Supervisor, Inventory Control Specialist, or Logistics Coordinator while also being subject to lateral advancements into the production operations team.
