Position Pays: $17.50 POSITION SUMMARY: The Warehouse Associate will maintain the day-to-day tasks as they relate to the inbound/outbound operations including sanitation. The Warehouse Associate is responsible for receiving, order selecting, loading trucks, put-a-way, replenishment, and sanitation. Transparency: Doing things openly and honestly). ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
  • Reliable, consistent, attendance is a requirement. This position requires punctuality and dependable attendance to meet the needs of the business, including attending and taking part in meetings and presentations.
  • Loads and unloads trucks and delivery vehicles.
  • Ensures products being loaded are safely, securely packed, and labeled for shipping.
  • Meets the minimum department quota in order fulfillment.
  • Identifies any overages or missing or damaged products.
  • Inspects incoming products, labels them, and prepares them for shipping or storage.
  • Assists in the inventory of the warehouse and inventory reconciliation.
  • Efficiently operates computer systems with minimal direction.
  • Ensures warehouse equipment is maintained regularly.
  • Communicates efficiently with management and teammates.
  • Assists with training new employees.
  • Ensures Houston Food Bank's (HFB) and warehouse guidelines and policies are always met.
  • Complies with proper food safety practices.
  • SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: This position has no supervisory responsibilities. QUALIFICATIONS: Education/Experience:
    • High School Diploma from an accredited school or general education development (GED) certificate
    • 6+ months experience preferred
    • Experience in food warehousing and or retail or food distribution preferred

    • Ability to operate all types of warehouse machinery, standup & sit-down forklifts, long and short pallet jacks, manual jacks, computers, copiers, and other business equipment

While the job is generally performed in a warehouse environment, the employee is frequently exposed to different temperature-controlled environments including the freezer, wet and/or humid conditions, strong food-related smells, and outside weather conditions. The noise level in the office environment is typically quiet, but the employee will be occasionally exposed to loud noise levels (e.g., horns, fans). TRAVEL REQUIRED: No travel is required for this role. This role supports hours of operations at the Houston Food Bank facilities, as necessary, and may require flexibility (e.g., times of disaster, community events, company events). *Is legally able to work in the United States.
