Job DescriptionGeneral job summary Assist in the safe production of quality products by ensuring parts are moved though the production process efficiently and checked for quality. This includes: •Loading and unloading trucks •Supplying parts to production lines •Moving parts to warehouse •Inventory maintnenance SUMMARY OF ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS •Safely lifts, moves, unloads, and stacks material and supplies with electric or liquefied- gas powered industrial equipment such as a walkie, ball cart, reach truck, stacker, stand-up, or sit-down truck (fork-lift). •Visually checks all in-coming material, out-going finished product, and their packaging (including skids) for damage. All suspected damage must be reported in writing. •Weighs materials or products and records weight on tags, labels, or production schedules. •Properly secure loads with seat belts or straps before moving with powered industrial trucks. •Read work orders or receive oral instructions to determine work assignments or material or equipment needs. •Attach identifying tags to containers or mark them with identifying information. •Positions forks, lifting platform, or other lifting device under, over, or around loaded pallets, skids, boxes, products, or materials and transports load to designated areas. •Install protective devices, such as bracing, padding, or strapping, to prevent shifting or damage to items being transported. •Inventories materials on work floor, and supply workers with materials as needed. •Based on the production schedule and need on the production floor, the Material Handler will deliver components and other supplies to the appropriate place in a safe and timely manner. •Verifies material in warehouse is OK or approved to use before pulling it from skids. •Records inventory transactions using the Bar Code Inventory system. •Performs routine inspection and refueling on powered industrial trucks such as charging batteries or replacing liquefied-gas tank. •Apply principles of 5S to assigned areas so everything is organized, clean, and safe. •Follow all company rules and regulations related to environmental, health, and safety. •This list is not all inclusive; other job-related tasks may be assigned. job requirements
- General knowledge of material handling, inventory, and quality control practices such as FIFO and lot traceability.
- Skilled at driving powered industrial trucks by moving levers and pressing pedals.
•High school diploma or general education degree (GED) is required.
- Read, write, and verbally communicate in English to convey information effectively so others will understand.
•A minimum of 1 year driving a fork-lift truck is desired. Must be able to become forklift certified within our envrironment.
- Knowledge of relevant equipment, policies, procedures, and strategies to promote safety, health, and environment protection practices within the workplace.
- Able to consistently meet job attendance requirements.
